About the role:

The Project Director (PD) is responsible for leading, coordinating, and managing all activities for the Fleming Fund One Health project in Nigeria. The PD is responsible and accountable for the development, regular update and implementation of the country work plan and budget to ensure attainment of the program goals and objectives in line with the project’s mandate and approaches. The PD is the primary liaison between the project and the Fleming Fund, Mott MacDonald, Government counterparts, stakeholders, and other partners and grantees. The Project Director is accountable for the management of the project team and provides strategic and technical guidance and works closely with the assigned US-based Portfolio Manager, other project home office technical and operational staff, and other MSH projects in the country. The PD ensures the timely and quality delivery of project products and activities and supervises in-country project staff. The PD will draw on global best practices, MSH’s global support resources, and ensure that they and their staff contribute to MSH’s global learning and strategic thought leadership in global health security.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • A postgraduate degree, MPH or master’s in another health-related subject; PhD and/or MD preferred.
  • A minimum of 8 years of professional experience working in public health in Nigeria. 10 years of progressively responsible experience is preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience working in the field of Global Health Security and One Health.
  • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain relationships with senior-level colleagues, particularly interacting productively, proactively, and comfortably with government agencies, NGOs, private sector groups, and funding organizations.
  • Demonstrated strategic agility, diplomacy, conflict management, team building, written and oral communication, and negotiation skills.
  • Demonstrated managerial and organizational skills with flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and deadlines.
  • Excellent interpersonal, writing, and English language skills.
