Position Summary:

The M&E support consultant will assist in assessing and improving program effectiveness of the monitoring and evaluation unit activities within Nuru Nigeria organization while developing data collection, aggregation, analysis, visualization, and reporting skills. Reports to the Monitoring & Evaluation Coordinator, the support consultant will contribute to the continual refinement and improvement of Nuru Nigeria M&E system and prepare valuable materials for the enhancement of organizational data use, supporting Nuru Nigeria’s ability to assess programmatic outcomes and impact.

General Duties and Responsibilities

  • Work with NN M & E Coordinator to develop M&E plans, implement baseline assessments, develop tools for annual surveys and endline assessment.
  • Conduct surveys, interviews, or focus groups and use data analysis tools to analyze  data to monitor program activities, outcomes, and impacts as needed for project reports
  • Conduct research and data harvesting across learning documents on all Nuru Nigeria project implementation
  • Support the M&E unit in the development and implementation of M&E systems and policies
  • Assist in the creation and revision of data collection tools
  • Assist in compiling data to contribute towards strategic decision-making, Knowledge management, sharing best practices, and program planning with the program team
  • Participate in data management, such as data cleaning, audio note transcription, creation of databases, etc
  • Support in the development of data visualizations for program management and communication materials, such as graphs, charts, and maps
  • Support in review of project reports and support teams to track program progress towards Nuru Nigeria’s indicators
  • Maintain open and professional relations with team members, promoting a strong team spirit and providing oversight and guidance to enable staff to successfully perform in their positions.

Required Skills/Experience

  • University degree (statistics, social science, public health, development economics, or a related discipline)
  • Experience in or desire to learn M & E processes
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively and professionally while navigating cultural and language barriers
  • Ability to be flexible and prioritize projects and tasks effectively
  • Self-starter; independent, takes initiative to solve problem
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented
  • Excellent interpersonal, multi-cultural and team building skills
  • Proficiency in Word, Excel, and other Microsoft Office tools
  • Basic knowledge of statistics & data analysis
  • Familiarity and interest in agricultural intervention, especially how to interact with Farmer groups
  • Willingness to continually improve technical and analytical competencies
  • Desire to learn and grow professionally
  • High proficiency in Hausa language is required
