FairMoney is building the leading mobile bank for emerging markets. We started with a digital microcredit application on Android, and currently roll out additional financial services (current account, savings, debit card) while expanding the product to Western Africa and South-East Asia.

Job Title: Lead Product Designer

Roles and Responsibilities

  • You have strong expertise in leading a team of product designers and other functional competencies like information architecture, layout, visual hierarchy, journey models, and more.
  • You can document user experience and interactivity through wireframes, flowcharts, screenshots, rapid prototypes, and visual design.
  • Take charge of a team of product designers, offering guidance and mentorship to ensure each member plays a role in the company’s overall success.
  • Having knowledge of design management and related processes, as well as the ability to mentor young designers, is important
  • You have experience working with product management, engineering, and research and can drive ideas to production.
  • You are obsessed with user experience, understand what matters for the user, and work towards delivering the same.
  • You understand how to leverage data (qualitative and quantitative) and can influence product management and engineering to improve the user experience.
  • You have worked in a fast-paced environment before and are not afraid to get your hands dirty when needed.

Requirements

  • At least 8+ years of experience in designing consumer-facing products, including at least 3+ years of experience leading/managing design teams
  • Prior experience building mobile first neobanks and/or Fintech products lending, savings, payments, investments, insurance & remittance) is a plus
  • Experience working and managing teams in a cross-cultural and international environment, alongside all levels of stakeholders
  • Having knowledge of design management and related processes, as well as the ability to mentor young designers, is important
  • Demonstrate a keen focus on user experience, understanding and prioritizing user needs, and actively contributing to its enhancement.
  • Engage with cross-functional teams, such as product management, engineering, and marketing, to align design objectives with overarching business goals.
  • Proficiently document user experience and interactivity using wireframes, flowcharts, screenshots, rapid prototypes, and visual design.
  • Showcase expertise in collaborating with product management, engineering, and research, driving ideas from conception to production.
  • Harness qualitative and quantitative data to influence product management and engineering, thereby enhancing the user experience.
  • Regularly assess and critique wireframes, prototypes, or high-fidelity mockups to ensure effective communication of ideas to customers and address pertinent issues.
  • Thrive in a fast-paced environment, willing to actively engage in hands-on work when necessary.
  • Oversee the design process from ideation to implementation, testing, and subsequent iterations.
  • Stay abreast of the latest technologies, bringing innovative ideas and approaches to the team.
  • Establish and enforce design processes and best practices to boost the efficiency and effectiveness of the design team.
  • Formulate and execute the comprehensive product design strategy for the entire company.
