Basic Function:

The EpiC Technical Lead will work under the supervision of the Nigeria Project Director to provide technical and management leadership to the HIV, COVID-19, Medical Oxygen, Mpox and GHS interventions; develop technical strategies, oversee design, capacity building/performance management of teams, implementation of quality programs, document lessons learnt and best practices.

Duties and responsibilities:

  • Oversee the development of strategies for the design and implementation of EpiC Nigeria public health interventions including TB/HIV/AIDS, COVID-19, Medical Oxygen, Mpox and GHS interventions, etc
  • Ensure that appropriate technical strategies, policies, and SOPs are developed and implemented in accordance with FHI 360, USAID, and Nigerian regulations.
  • Assist with the development, management, monitoring and evaluation of work plans and budgets, ensuring appropriate levels of technical assistance for interventions.
  • Provide technical assistance through the review and/or writing of protocols, technical briefs, peer-review papers, project reports to ensure accuracy and appropriateness of knowledge management products.  
  • Contribute to financial management including regular pipeline review efforts that will support achievement of project objectives. 
  • Represent the EpiC project and FHI 360 make presentations at professional meetings and conferences.
  • Remain informed on current trends and ensure high quality implementation and knowledge management.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills & Attributes:

  • Considerable experience in designing and implementing projects in developing countries.
  • Sound knowledge of ongoing and emerging issues in relation to TB/HIV/AIDS, COVID-19, Medical Oxygen, Mpox and GHS.
  • Proven skills in management, supervision and leadership.
  • Familiarity with the scientific literature on TB/HIV/AIDS, COVID-19, Medical Oxygen, Mpox and GHS; with publications on public health issues.
  • Sensitivity to cultural differences and understanding of DEI and other ethical issues.
  • Ability to manage projects, consultants, set realistic priorities, and plan for the successful implementation of programs.
  • Ability to work well with others and to develop and maintain compatibility among project staff, subcontractors, consultants, and recipients of assistance.
  • Demonstrated expertise in building effective relationship with key internal and external stakeholders.
  • Well developed written and oral communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications such as MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
  • Ability to manage tight deadlines and deliver high volumes of work with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to intervene with staff with diplomacy and firmness.

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • MB.BS/MD/PHD or similar degrees with 7-9 years professional public health experience including at least five years specialized experience in TB/HIV/AIDS, COVID-19, Medical Oxygen, Mpox and GHS in developing country settings plus at least four years senior management experience. Experience must reflect the knowledge, skills and abilities listed above.
  • MSc/MA in social science, public health or related field, MPH preferred, and a minimum of 9-11 years relevant experience with international development programs which includes 4 years relevant supervisory experience.
  • Familiarity with Nigerian public sector health systems, international donor organizations, NGOs and CBOs is required.
  • Demonstrated success in multicultural environments is required.
