Senior Staff Nurse with Clinical and Diagnostic Services under the Office of Executive Director (Adv#38/2024)

Dhaka Hospital was established by icddr,b in 1962 primarily to meet the urgent need to treat patients, particularly children, with severe diarrhoeal disease. It has since grown into a nationally important centre treating around 200,000 patients a year. Dhaka Hospital offers a full range of services, particularly for diarrhoeal and respiratory disease, with infants and children representing a high proportion of patients.
Dhaka Hospital also provides an infrastructure for a wide range of clinical research projects. It also plays a critical role in areas such as disease surveillance, monitoring for antimicrobial resistance and clinical training.
Duties and Responsibilities
Senior Staff Nurse will report to Nursing Officer. The position holder will receive, register, examine and provide treatment according to physician’s advice to the patients coming through the emergency and outpatient department following icddr,b procedures. S/he will be involved in-
- Provide Patient Care Services in Dhaka Hospital wards including Travelers’ Clinic and Gastroenterology unit;
- Perform various nursing and medical procedures & ensure proper use of Medical Equipment & Health Safety measures;
- Management & Supervision of associate nurses and other supporting staff such as health workers and sanitation attendants;
- Ward management;
- Establish and maintain proper communication with supervisors, clients, attendants and other team members;
- Prepare training materials and conduct training;
- Supervise and monitor the junior nurses, fellow nurses and other support staff activities in order to establish a good communication channel in workplace and improve performance of the ward staff and efficiency of the patientcare service in the hospitals.
Required qualification and experience:
- BSc in Nursing Science and Midwifery with valid registration from the Bangladesh Nursing and Midwifery Council.
- 5 years of relevant working experiences. Candidates who have completed at least one year of Fellowship in Nursing Program from icddr,b will be given preference.
Location: Dhaka
Contract Type and duration:
- Fixed Term basis for two years with a possibility of extension subject to availability of fund and performance.
Salary & benefits:
- Annual 9,09,360/- inclusive of house rent and conveyance allowances and other admissible benefits
- 14.8% provident fund contribution, income tax paid by icddr,b, children allowance @Tk.1,917/- per child per month, festival bonus, contributory healthcare support including dependent spouse and children, group life insurance, and subsidized canteen. Transport and daycare facilities are subject to space availability.
