We are recruiting to fill the position below:
Job Title: Resident School Nurse
Location: Ikeja, Lagos
Employment Type: Full-time
Main Duties and Responsibilities
Medical Care:
- Cooperate with the school management, members of the staff, parents and other health professionals to ensure a healthy school climate and to minimize absence due to illness.
- Provide emergency care in case of sudden illness and administers first-aid in case of injury to students or staff according to established policies and procedures.
- Help prevent and control communicable disease through lectures, inspections, exclusion and re-admission of students and staff in keeping with state and local health regulations and school policies.
- Maintains up-to-date health records on all students.
- Report suspicious behaviours of students or staff influenced by alcohol or harmful substances to the principal for immediate examination.
- Administers prescribed medication to students in accordance with the school policy.
- Assists the principal with the preparation of the school’s health budget.
- Assists in the development of policies and procedures for comprehensive health education and services.
- Prepare and submit weekly reports on the bay activities to the Principaland copy the Doctor.
- Serve as a relief to the Head Nurse when off duty.
Health & Safety:
- Promote healthy/safe school environment by assisting the administration and staff to maintain safe and sanitary conditions throughout the school. Reports problems promptly to the principal.
- Confer with and advises students, parents, and staff members on matters pertaining to the health and safety of students.
- Ensure the meals prepared by the kitchen are healthy and well-balanced diets through tasting, observations and advise where necessary.
- Prepare health and safety reports as required by law and/or requested by the principal.
- Coordinate creation and implementation of Emergency Action Plan and disaster Preparedness Plans.
Requirements
- A Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing qualification.
- A Nursing Licence
- Excellent customer service
- Excellent Communication Skills
- Demonstration of Respect, Empathy and High Emotional Intelligence
- An understanding of Health and Safety guidelines
- A willingness to support and contribute to general improvements of the school.
