Terms of Reference

The position
The Public Health Unit, in Bogotá, Colombia, requires a/an intern to support the work of the unit in relation to the analysis and preparation of information products on the health situation of the population for which UNHCR works, communication on key information in health care and the development of tools for psychosocial and public health care required by the protection offers provided by the operation.
Tasks and Responsibilities
Under the direct supervision of the Public Health Officer, the Intern will carry out the following tasks:
Support the development of information products (Boletines, infographics) on analysis of the health situation of the population for which UNHCR works that serve for advocacy processes for the health response to this population with the government and other humanitarian organizations.
Support the development of a toolbox for psychological first aid or psychosocial first aid for points of care and orientation (PAOS) and other processes of the operation to which be useful and their respective training to their human talent.
Support the search and analysis of information required for the advocacy processes of the Public Health Unit.
Support the development of content of communication products or guides on key issues on public health for the population for which UNHCR works.
Support the management and monitoring of donations and health supplies made by the Health Unit.
Participate in the internal meetings of the Unit, with other units and humanitarian coordination scenarios deemed necessary.
Minimum Required Requirements
To be eligible for an internship, candidates must meet the following requirements:
– Have completed at least two years of university studies in a field relevant or of interest to UNHCR’s work.

Profile and Desired Skills
• Excel level / office package: High;
– Professional in psychology recently graduated (having completed their studies in the two years prior to the application)
• High motivation for community work, humanitarian field and public health.
• English level: Medium
• Teamwork capacity
• Excellent interpersonal relationships, including ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with people in a multicultural environment, with sensitivity and respect for diversity
• High degree of confidentiality, loyalty to the Organization, training in values, conduct and ethical principles that allow it to maintain impartiality and interact adequately with national and international officials.
Conditions
This is a full-time position with a working hours Monday through Thursday from 8:30 am to 5:45 pm and Friday from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm ( 40 hours per week ). The selected candidate will be assigned to support the team in Bogotá.
The costs and procedures associated with visas, stay, medical insurance or equivalents are the responsibility of the intern. UNHCR will provide a monthly grant.
UNHCR is not responsible for the health insurance of the intern or for costs associated with accidents or illnesses incurred during the internship.
The acceptance of the internship will be subject to the presentation of medical and accident insurance, valid for the place where the internship will take place, as well as all other documents required for the linking of interns.
If the internship is done as a requirement to obtain a degree, the acceptance of the same is subject to the presentation of the proof of affiliation and payment of contributions to the General System of Occupational Risks of the student processed by the University, University or Higher Education Institution; as well as the delivery of documents of the other documents required for the internship. If the practice is carried out independently, it is necessary in any case to present the proof of the corresponding ARL.
In case the Security Risk Assessment (SRA) changes during the execution of the internship, there is a possibility that it will be suspended in order to protect the integrity of the intern.

The intern may not go on a mission to places outside the country where the internship is accepted.
