Roles and Responsibilities

Key Area 1: Programme Quality and Project support 

Key Area 2: Project Reporting 

Key Area 3: Donor relationship building and influencing

Key Area 4: Business Development

  • Liaise with the PDQR unit in engaging the Heads of Programme Implementation (Field and National Portfolios) and Project Managers on project cycle management, project content and implementation strategies;
  • Support Project managers and coordinators on project and activity strategies and assist in  identifying relevant SFCG resources and best practices;
  • Coordinate with the Head of PDQR and Programme team in development of strategies on ensuring a balance in the project triple constraints (project activity output, time and budget)
  • Support collaboration with Project teams in implementation of the Greater Lake Chad Basin Strategy while also ensuring ‘Do No Harm’ and conflict sensitivity; 
  • Collaborate with the project and DM&E teams to review and analyze project results; 
  • Collaborate with project managers in planning, coordinating, and implementing activities where needed; 
  • Develop and update Nigeria programme donor reporting calendar and report tracking system; 
  • Coordinate project reporting for all active projects by developing and setting internal report  development, review processes and internal deadlines; 
  • Work with project teams to review, edit, and finalize results-oriented project reports;
  •  Support the Head of PDQR, Heads of Programme Implementation (Field and National Portfolios) and project teams to develop “success stories” from project  activities and documenting project impact; 
  • Build the capacity of the project teams to write high quality results-oriented reports. 
  • Support the Country Program’s efforts at developing  and managing strategic consortium partnerships with appropriate CSOs, academic organizations and  private sector firms to leverage SFCG’s chances of success in competitive calls for proposals and tender  bids 
  • Support SFCG’s Country Programmes efforts to conduct donor scoping exercises and develop programme-led  fundraising strategies 
  • Support SFCG’s country programme efforts in identifying and facilitating opportunities for  relationship building with key donors 
  • Support the Head of PDQR and Regional Business Development Teams in proposal development process including  consultations, programme design, and proposal writing; 
  • Liaise with finance teams to develop proposal budgets; 
  • Liaise with design, monitoring and evaluation (DM&E) plus communication and learning teams to  include DM&E and communications plans and strategies in proposals;
  • Support the Country team’s coordination with the regional team to ensure proposal narratives and budget are in compliance with SFCG requirements and standards;
  • Participate in business development meetings and other strategic engagements with partners, donors, and other potential stakeholders. 
  • Collaborate with the PDQR unit and other staff  comprising the Heads of Programme Implementation (Field and National Portfolios) and Support units (PAL, Finance, DMEL, Communications) to develop applications and other project materials that are of high  quality, aligned with SFCG’s priorities and demonstrating impact 
  • Support in-country review and provide feedback on proposals and tender bids ensuring compliance with proposal  development guidelines 
  • Support the identification of institutional funding prospects beyond  SFCG’s traditional donors 

Educational Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in social sciences, Peacebuilding, Development Studies or a related discipline (or equivalent experience,). 

Required Experience

  • An understanding of  Programme Quality, Grant Management, Reporting and Business Development, within the NGO sector 
  • At least 5 years experience of programme development and implementation including managing donor relations. 
  • A good understanding of achieving collaboration with Project and Support teams

  • Excellent diplomacy and interpersonal skills and an ability to work in a non-partisan manner, appreciating gender, cultural and ethnic diversity 
  • Attention to detail and ability to follow up on tasks to completion is required.
  • Ability to work autonomously and take initiative to generate valuable findings and communicate them in a timely manner.
  • Proficiency at using Microsoft office software: MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc. is required.
  • Prior experience in advocacy, liaison and collaboration with donors, partners, security agencies, relevant government agencies, security forces and media is desirable.
  • Experience working in a conflict (hard to reach) environment is a plus
