How can you make a difference?

UNICEF Zimbabwe is seeking to hire an enthusiastic National Consultancy for Design of Fitted Kitchen, Warehouse Shelving and Shed for Walk-in-Cold Room at Central Vaccine Stores. To design and layout of the kitchen, walk-in-shed and warehouse shelving at the Central Vaccine Stores for the Ministry of Health and Child Care located in the Parirenyatwa Group of Hospitals Grounds.

BACKGROUND 

UNICEF supported the construction of the EPI Dry Stores which was completed in 2023. In addition, the Dry Stores requires shelving to properly package and contain the supplies when they are in storage. The MoHCC has started to receive suppliers to organise supplies and provide ample space to store things in their appropriate place and allow warehouse operations to optimize their use of both vertical and horizontal space. They also protect the product and make inventory management and retrieval much simpler. UNICEF Zimbabwe has supported contraction of an EPI dry Stores adjacent to the central vaccine stores. The purpose on the dry stores is to house all accessories standing lease agreement. The MoHCC has procured a walk-in-cold room that will be installed in the open, hence the need to secure and protect the shed from direct sunlight. In the dry stores is a kitchen which requires fittings and electrical gadgets for use through fix and supply modality. It is against this background the Ministry has requested for UNICEF to support with the procurement process.

PURPOSE OF THE ASSIGNMENT:

Design and layout of the kitchen, walk-in-shed and warehouse shelving at the Central Vaccine Stores for the Ministry of Health and Child Care located in the Parirenyatwa Group of Hospitals Grounds.

ASSIGNMENTS:

Design and layout of the kitchen, walk-in -shed and warehouse shelving at the Central Vaccine Stores of the Ministry of Health and Child Care located in the Parirenyatw Hospital Grounds.

  • Provide technical drawings for the fitted kitchen, with specifications of the wood and electrical gargets for fix and supply.
  • Provide specifications for the warehouse shelving, including designs and drawings with clear specifications of the materials to be used for fix and supply.
  • Provide technical drawings for the walk – in -shed, security features to protect from unlawful entry /access. Provide specifications for the floor area.

To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have…

Education:

  • Skilled worker class 1 in capentry and joinery.
  • Additional qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the university degree.  .
  • Languages: Fluency in English language

Experience:

  • Minimum of 5 years relevant professional experience in planning, management and implementation of immunization or health programs.
  • Very good understanding of national immunization programs, Primary health care and health systems.
  • Experience in supporting countries to design and implement coverage and equity assessments, equity analysis, strategies to reach zero dose and under-vaccinated children etc.

Knowledge/ Expertise/Skills required:

  • At least a degree in Construction Engineering
  • Skilled Worker Class 1 in Carpentry and Joinery is required in addition to the above
  • At least 5 years experience in designing and construction specialising in shop fittings and carpentry, maintenance
  • Proven ability in fitted kitchens, shop fitting and wood technology
  • Demonstrable knowledge in Computer Aided Designs
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Ability to work in a multi-cultural environment.
  • Ability to work under tight deadlines.

Languages: English

Individuals engaged under a consultancy or individual contract will not be considered “staff members” under the Staff Regulations and Rules of the United Nations and UNICEF’s policies and procedures, and will not be entitled to benefits provided therein (such as leave entitlements and medical insurance coverage). Their conditions of service will be governed by their contract and the General Conditions of Contracts for the Services of Consultants and Individual Contractors. Consultants and individual contractors are responsible for determining their tax liabilities and for the payment of any taxes and/or duties, in accordance with local or other applicable laws.

The selected candidate is solely responsible to ensure that the visa (applicable) and health insurance required to perform the duties of the contract are valid for the entire period of the contract. Selected candidates are subject to confirmation of fully-vaccinated status against SARS-CoV-2 (Covid-19) with a World Health Organization (WHO)-endorsed vaccine, which must be met prior to taking up the assignment. It does not apply to consultants who will work remotely and are not expected to work on or visit UNICEF premises, programme delivery locations or directly interact with communities UNICEF works with, nor to travel to perform functions for UNICEF for the duration of their consultancy contracts.
