Job Title: WASH Specialist
Locations: Bauchi, Oyo and Sokoto
Job Overview
- This role is for a proposal the organization is currently working on. The WASH Specialist will support the implementation of the Safe Water Expansion-Water Point Exploration Survey in Nigeria.
- The project aims to estimate the number and types of communal water points suitable for safe water programs in Bauchi, Oyo, and Sokoto states.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with team to finalize the scope, design, and survey attributes of the Water Point Exploration activity.
- Provide input and feedback on the survey implementation guidelines, protocols, and training materials.
- Advise on the operational feasibility of survey sampling and data collection methods.
- Engage local stakeholders to garner approval for activity implementation.
- Train enumeration staff to collect data using Survey CTO as per survey implementation protocols.
- Deploy enumeration staff to sampled communities, ensuring proper supervision.
- Conduct water quality testing at communal water points using appropriate methods.
Qualifications
- Master’s Degree in Hydrology & Water Resources Management, Public Health, Water Engineering, Water and Environmental Management or other specialist field related to WASH is required.
- A minimum of five years of professional work experience in WASH-related programmes.
- Proven experience in advising and implementing community-level data collection activities, preferably in the water sector.
- Strong knowledge of survey design, monitoring, and evaluation methodologies.
- Experience working with government stakeholders and navigating approval processes.
- Familiarity with water quality testing methods and tools.
- Excellent communication, training, and coordination skills.
- Proficiency in using digital data collection platforms, particularly SurveyCTO.
- Ability to work independently and in collaboration with multi-disciplinary teams.
