Pro-Wellness Humanitarian Initiative (PROWI) is a women led non-governmental humanitarian/developmental organization founded in 2016, registered with corporate affairs commission, in accordance with the Nigeria Law, PROWI was established to impact the lives of vulnerable individuals in African communities, affected by crises or natural disasters, with special focus on women, children, and other marginalized groups, enabling them to survive, recover, and regain control over their lives and future, through our interventions in thematic areas of Health, Protection, Nutrition, Education, WASH, Peace building, Early recovery and Livelihood. Over the years, PROWI has reached more than 12,000 children, men, women and girls through its interventions. PROWI work with the Mission to create a positive transformation and empowering communities through a comprehensive, holistic approach that encompasses health, well-being, and social justice.

Job Title: WASH Officer (Volunteer)

Job Summary / Position Overview
- We are seeking a diligent and detail-oriented graduate Water, Sanitation and Hygiene Officer (Volunteer) that will be responsible for the implementation of PROWI’s WASH infrastructure program areas of intervention.
- The WASH Assistant’s primary function is to ensure quality of the planning, implementation and follow up of WASH activities being implemented by PROWI.
- Specifically, the WASH Officeris expected to conduct the day to day implementation of Water, Sanitation and Hygiene activities especially in the areas of intervention.
Line Management / Position in the Organization:
- Reports to the Program Manager
- Assist to coordinate community mobilization and sensitization of community on WASH activities.
- Follow up, inspect and ensure project material are delivered as per specified measurements at field level in timely way, and follow up those not delivered as per requisition.
- Assist to coordinate with other stakeholder on the ground for smooth, efficient and effective implementation of the activities.
- Ensuring integration of WASH, Protection, livelihood and shelter activities through close coordination.
- Represent the organization and actively participate in State level WASH Cluster meetings, Planning and coordination meetings.
- Assist to contribute to monthly reports for WASH cluster attention.
- Assist to coordinate and participate in project startup/project closure workshops, baseline survey and end of Project Evaluation for the project as per project design and within the project implementation deadlines.
- Prepare project documentation including monthly project reports on implementation status, intermediate and final narrative reports as per donor requirements and sending them to WASH Sector Advisor and other relevant team members for review/further action within set deadlines.
- Assist to carry out Need and technical assessment for all type of WASH infrastructures.
- Support in preparation and Submission of order requests as per policies and procedures.
- Assist to conduct trainings regarding operation and maintenance of water supply and sanitation facilities for beneficiaries and water management committees.
- Organize and implement hygiene promotion training as required.
- Liaise and secure consent from the local authorities and beneficiary prior to intervention.
- Preparation of weekly, monthly work plans and progress reports.
Qualifications / Core Requirements
- Degree in relevant field especially Public health, Environmental Health Science, Nutrition or equivalent professional qualification.
- Excellent communication skills, calm and a good sense of humor.
- Very good understanding of national WASH policies, strategies and programs.
- Possess the ability to prepare reports and conduct training.
Experience:
- Minimum of two(2) year programming experience with relevant working experience, desirable in WASH.
- Experience in community-based interventions.
- Proven ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
Skills and Competencies:
- Excellent inter-personal, communications and representative skills (written, oral, cross-cultural).
- Self-motivated
- Skills in training and management.
- Proficiency in the use of computers (MS Word, Excel, Power Point Presentation).
- Ability to speak English fluently, Hausa and other local languages desirable.
- Should be multitasking and can work with little or no supervision.
- Analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent English written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to meet deadlines
- Resilience, persuasive, and diplomatic
- Ability to relate with people from varieties oof diverse cultural backgrounds
- Discretion, good sense of judgement and capacity to deal efficiently with external partners.

Preferred Skills:
- Knowledge of the development and humanitarian sector.
- Ability to speak English fluently, Hausa and other local languages desirable.
- Familiarity with project management and reporting requirements of major donors.
- Excellent English written, verbal communication and report writing skills
- Ability to work in a multicultural environment and adapt to diverse contexts.
Organizational Requirements:
- The post holder will, at all times, carry out his/her responsibilities with the utmost respect for the protection of children by the PROWI’s Child and Vulnerable Person/persons Safeguarding Policy.
- The post holder will be required to respect ethnic and racial differences during and after work hours.
- The post holder will report to the PROGRAM MANAGER

Safeguarding and Protection:
- Efforts will be made to ensure adequate exclusion of minors, young and other vulnerable adults who are not legally authorized to work from the scheme to ensure that the project is devoid of litigations and court injunctions.
