Safeguarding Children Initiative (SCII) is a non-governmental organization carrying out operations in Borno, Adamawa and Yobe States. Our Mission is to provide hope, protect, and uphold the rights and dignity of children and their caregivers in marginalized or most vulnerable communities through building long-lasting pillars by way of collaboration, inclusion, equity, and diversity.

Main duties and responsibilities
- Conduct routine MUAC screening for children between 6 – 59 months for acute malnutrition
- Refer children with severe acute malnutrition to the OTP and Moderate acute malnutrition to Tom brown supplementary feeding program
- Identify the communities or catchment areas under their coverage and together with the members of the community plan for the delivery of the different components of the community-based
nutrition activities
- During routine screening identify and mobilize eligible persons for other nutrition services i.e.
caregivers of children 6-59 months with MAM for IYCF peer mother support groups, and refer
Pregnant women to ANC and iron folic acid supplementation
- Conduct weekly Tom Brown preparation and IYCF group counseling
- Train lead mothers on Tom Brown preparation and MUAC assessment
- counseling of mothers of children 0-5 months for breastfeeding counseling and 6-23 months for infant feeding counseling
- Clinical follow up of children at the OTP/SC
- Support at least one cooking demonstration session to every peer mother support group within the community using locally sourced/available nutritious food monthly
- Support the OTP center in tracking reported defaulters from the program 2-days per week
- Support in the sensitization of beneficiaries within the community
- Conduct home visits to monitor the utilization of specialized nutritious foods and promote key household practices at household levels
- Execute any other tasks as requested by the supervisor in charge
- Provide nutrition screening and referral data to supervisor on a weekly basis as applicable
- Deliver nutrition and health messages to caregivers of children 0-59 months, Pregnant and lactating women in the community through one on one counseling.
- Provide a report on defaulter tracing to the health facility on a weekly basis
- Supervise the lead mothers during IYCF group meetings and Tom Brown preparations

Supervision: You shall be supervised by the activity supervisor and Nutrition Assistants on a daily basis,
