We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Tax and Reporting Specialist

Location: Lagos

Job Function

  • Responsible for the preparation of timely tax reporting and ensures compliance with government regulations;
  • Keep and reconcile financial records and prepare tax schedules and related financial report;
  • Prepare and remit organisation liabilities to tax authorities which include payroll, sales, services and property tax, regulatory filings, and present tax reports to executive management, collation, posting, reconciling and reporting of NBL float and expenses.

Key Performance Areas
Statutory Compliance:

  • Deliver a full range of tax services to the organisation in compliance with laws and regulations within timeframe.
  • Provide innovative tax planning and review complex income tax returns.
  • Preparation of PAYE, VAT, WHT (Federal and other states) and timely remittance.
  • Annual filling with FIRS and other states, transfer pricing documentation and filling.
  • Identify and mitigate tax risks.
  • Manage tax provision and tax compliance process.
  • Improve processes by developing or implementing best practices.
  • Manage and respond appropriately during tax audits (FIRS, LIRS, other states, Compliance, internal and external auditors).
  • Maintain tax balances on general ledger.
  • Prepare all tax papers in regular basis and handle all information data requests.
  • Monthly E-filling of remittances.
  • Collections and sending of receipts and schedule to all locations in Nigeria.
  • Annual fillings of all states in the federation of PAYE returns of all MDS Logistics Ltd staff, managers and management.
  • Tax clearances collection from Federal and states.
  • Handling demands from all states Inland Revenue in the federation.

Cost Savings:

  • Timely generation of WHT receivables accounts and recovery of credit notes.
  • Weekly Clients WHT’ position report for management review.
  • Regular reconciliation of accounts related to taxes and updating the management.
  • Monthly and timely remittances and reconciliation for PAYE, WHT and VAT for warehouse, haulage and distribution accounts.
  • Quarterly circularization of outstanding WHT to clients.
  • Maintain daily registration and recognition of clients’ credit notes collected.

Qualifications

  • Candidates should possess an HND / B.Sc in Accounting field; Certified Professional in Accounting field.

Experience and Skills Required

  • Minimum of 3-5 years’ experience.
  • Proven work experience as a Tax Specialist.
  • Strong leadership and personnel management skills.
  • Working experience in banking, manufacturing, Marketing and haulage.
  • Extensive experience of working on MS office/SA.
