Programme for Emerging Infections under Infectious Diseases Division is implementing Infection prevention and control (IPC) activities in different hospitals across the country. The project aims to improve the overall hospital IPC situation through provide intervention. The project will also focus on generating new evidence related to hospital IPC.
Position Description:
The study Nurse reporting to the Assistant Programme Manager will be responsible for providing IPC (infection prevention and control) intervention in hospital settings, training nurses and cleaning staff, and counseling patients, attendants, and visitors to maintain IPC during hospital stays. The Study Nurse will work closely with the study physician to maintain close liaison with the hospital HCW to facilitate IPC intervention and gather data on IPC. The major areas of responsibilities may include but are not limited to:
- Implementation of the project in the hospital settings and providing IPC intervention regularly;
- Facilitate IPC training periodically for healthcare workers;
- Ensure infection control practice and the security of the ward/unit comply with Health & safety measures;
- Counsel patients, attendants and visitors to maintain IPC while staying in the hospitals;
- Maintain liaison with the hospital IPC committee and leadership and work together to implement the best IPC practices;
- Take and record vital signs, body weight, and intake and output, and prepare patient census;
- implement and evaluate nursing intervention(s);
- Maintain records of all research-related data in the appropriate form;
- Coordinate with Physicians/Investigators in research-related activities, including sample collection;
- Supervise the health worker’s activities and collaborate well with the study physician;
- Ensure patient record confidentiality and practice best Nursing Ethics and Code of Conduct.
Required qualifications and experience:
- Diploma/BSc in Nursing Science and Midwifery with valid registration from the Bangladesh Nursing and Midwifery Council (BNMC).
- 01 year experience in relevant field

Contract Type and duration:
- Short Term Contractual Service Agreement: duration will be 3 months with a possibility of extension subject to availability of funds and performance.
Salary & benefits:
- Tk. 32,550/-(consolidated) per month inclusive of house rent and conveyance allowances.
- Festival bonus, income tax paid by icddr,b and subsidized canteen. Transport and daycare facilities are subject to space availability.
