Initiative for the Advancement of Waste Management in Africa (aka W.A.S.T.E Africa) is a non-governmental, non-profitand voluntary organization formed to be a leading source of innovative solutions and strong advocacy for a sustainable ecosystem of solid waste management; engaging government, commercial and residential stakeholders in Nigeria and the African Continent.

We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Social Specialist

Location: Abuja (FCT)
Employment Type: Full-time

Key Responsibilities
Content Development and Distribution:

  • Create informative and engaging content on projects and activities.
  • Create engaging multimedia content such as visual aids, infographics, videos, and other content types tailored to the stakeholders.

Community Engagement and Partnerships:

  • Organize and participate in community clean-up events, workshops, and webinars.
  • Foster partnerships with local businesses, schools, communities and organizations to promote environmental awareness and advocacy groups.

Stakeholder Collaboration and Management:

  • Identify all potential stakeholders and create a comprehensive stakeholder map.
  • Liaise with government agencies, NGOs, and other stakeholders to synchronize efforts and share resources.
  • Develop and implement stakeholder engagement and communication plans.

Education and Training:

  • Develop resources and materials to aid project team members in understanding and navigating the social aspects of projects.
  • Support in the development of educational and training materials for schools and community groups.
  • Organize training and workshops for volunteers and community members.

Social Impact Assessment:

  • Evaluate the social implications of the project, considering aspects like community impact, employee implications, and broader societal effects.
  • Work with the project team to integrate social considerations into project plans and objectives.

Crisis Management:

  • Identify potential crises from project teams and stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with the Project Manager to develop strategies for resolving conflicts that consider both technical and social aspects.

Documentation and Reporting:

  • Document stakeholder feedback, team communication plans, and social impact assessments.
  • Provide regular updates to the Project Manager and other key personnel on social aspects and stakeholder engagements.

Requirements

  • Candidates should possess B.Sc Degrees with 1 – 3 years relevant work experience.

Required Skills:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Creativity and the ability to think strategically about content and engagement.
  • Strong analytical skills to interpret data and translate it into actionable insights.

Salary
N100,000 – N150,000 Monthly.
