Initiative for the Advancement of Waste Management in Africa (aka W.A.S.T.E Africa) is a non-governmental, non-profitand voluntary organization formed to be a leading source of innovative solutions and strong advocacy for a sustainable ecosystem of solid waste management; engaging government, commercial and residential stakeholders in Nigeria and the African Continent.
We are recruiting to fill the position below:
Job Title: Social Specialist
Location: Abuja (FCT)
Employment Type: Full-time
Key Responsibilities
Content Development and Distribution:
- Create informative and engaging content on projects and activities.
- Create engaging multimedia content such as visual aids, infographics, videos, and other content types tailored to the stakeholders.
Community Engagement and Partnerships:
- Organize and participate in community clean-up events, workshops, and webinars.
- Foster partnerships with local businesses, schools, communities and organizations to promote environmental awareness and advocacy groups.
Stakeholder Collaboration and Management:
- Identify all potential stakeholders and create a comprehensive stakeholder map.
- Liaise with government agencies, NGOs, and other stakeholders to synchronize efforts and share resources.
- Develop and implement stakeholder engagement and communication plans.
Education and Training:
- Develop resources and materials to aid project team members in understanding and navigating the social aspects of projects.
- Support in the development of educational and training materials for schools and community groups.
- Organize training and workshops for volunteers and community members.
Social Impact Assessment:
- Evaluate the social implications of the project, considering aspects like community impact, employee implications, and broader societal effects.
- Work with the project team to integrate social considerations into project plans and objectives.
Crisis Management:
- Identify potential crises from project teams and stakeholders.
- Collaborate with the Project Manager to develop strategies for resolving conflicts that consider both technical and social aspects.
Documentation and Reporting:
- Document stakeholder feedback, team communication plans, and social impact assessments.
- Provide regular updates to the Project Manager and other key personnel on social aspects and stakeholder engagements.
Requirements
- Candidates should possess B.Sc Degrees with 1 – 3 years relevant work experience.
Required Skills:
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Creativity and the ability to think strategically about content and engagement.
- Strong analytical skills to interpret data and translate it into actionable insights.
Salary
N100,000 – N150,000 Monthly.
