Job Summary

  • The purpose of this role  is to assist in the development, implementation and monitoring food security and Livelihood  projects as directed.

Main Task and Responsibilities

  • Develop project implementation plans for FSL activities including budgeting, Monitoring plan PMP and project reports
  • Implement FSL project activities according to project/program plans and ensure that projects target beneficiaries most in need of protection, explore and asses new and better ways to assist.
  • Prepare and develop status reports as required.
  • Ensure documentation including  filing of project acitivities.
  • Promote and share ideas for technical improvement.
  • Support, mentor and coach junior FSL team members.
  • Liaise and collaborate with relevant local authorities and other key stakeholders as directed.
  • Supervise the implementation of all FSL activities as directedReview achievements and constraints and keep supervisor updated.
  • Ensure  projects implementation is in line with IMC technical guidelines, donor regulations and are done on time with quality.
  • Coordinate finance, logistics, HR and administration to ensure appropriate support are available to that ensures smooth running of FSL activities. 
  • Follow up all IMC implementation with  local partners, government department and service providers.
  • Identify training needs of FSL teams, partners and community committees and organize/facilitate training events as needed.
  • Assist in identifying training needs of Junior FSL staffas required
  • Assist with the training of the FSL teams to ensure they have a solid understanding of the project technical design, implementation approaches, IMC & donor’s policies and tools, including M&E tools.
  • Lead on stakeholder sensitization and maintain good working relationship with all stakeholders in the respective geographic areas. 
  • Represent IMC at local externally as required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned. The duties and responsibilities listed in this document are representative of the nature and level of work assigned and not necessarily all inclusive.

Job Requirements

  • Candidates should possess a B.Sc Degree in Agriculture or other relevant field with Two years of field experience or Masters Degree required in Agriculture or other relevant field.
  • Experience in food security, agriculture, livestock and Cash programming, including experience in early recovery following natural disaster.
  • Experience in assessment, program design and evaluation and technical training and support. 
  • An up-to date understanding of food security, emergency response, early recovery, food security and livelihoods concepts. 
  • Familiarity with design and programming processes of different donors 
  • Proficient analytical skills that demonstrate an understanding of the current concepts, priorities, and issues in program monitoring, data collection and evaluation. 
  • Skills in technical proposal writing, designing and implementing food security programs
  • Ability to exhibit tact, diplomacy, and resourcefulness in dealing with high level officials from donor agencies, international organizations, and other foreign and domestic government officials and partners.  
  • Must have excellent English written and oral communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with other departments within International Medical Corps, donors, non-governmental organizations, and the private sector.
  • Ability to work under tight schedule, in stressful/insecure environment

Additional Technical or Language Requirements:

  • English Local languages (Hausa, Kanuri and Shuwa)
