Job Title: Senior Manager, Research and Advocacy
Location: Lagos
Employment Type: Full-time
Supervise: Research Managers and Senior Research Officer.
Job Summary
- We are in need of a resourceful, innovative, and competent Senior Research Manager.
- The prospective candidate will be dedicated to extensive research, analysis, management, and interpretation of economic and statistical data aimed at influencing government policies and decisions.
Responsibilities
- Researching, analyzing, and monitoring economic developments and issues of importance to the Lagos & Nigerian business community, and helping to shape government policy on investment and trade.
- Design, Prepare and Manage Research & Advocacy programs.
- Conduct Business Confidence Surveys and Computation of the quarterly Business Confidence Index of the Chamber.
- Preparation of weekly, monthly & quarterly economic reports to Director, Research and Advocacy.
- Compile periodic analysis and interpretation of economic and statistical data, through research of the economic and development issues in the country and production of relevant reports aimed at promoting more conducive business environment in Nigeria.
- Prepare discussion papers and memorandum on policy-oriented economic issues for discussion at the chambers business roundtable forums.
- Develop proposals, concept papers, innovate projects, present and defend the proposals to attract funding partners and donor agencies for the organization’s projects.
- Gather sectoral data on the performance of the various sectors of the economy for preparation of quarterly sectoral report.
- Plan and execute research surveys including reports and evaluation.
- Carry out other assignment(s) as may be assigned by the Director and Director-General.
Qualifications and Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree with a minimum of 2nd Class Upper division in Economics.
- M.Sc. in Economics required. Doctoral degree in Economics with verifiable experience in research and publications will be an advantage.
- Relevant professional qualification(s) will be an added advantage.
- 12 years cognate experience in similar role will be preferred.
- In-depth Knowledge of both theoretical and practical aspects of economic research and development required. High level writing and editorial capabilities. Innovative, creative, proactive and analytical.
- Proficiency in the use of Microsoft offices such as MS word, PowerPoint, excel etc.
- Managerial and leadership approach to issues. Excellent analytical and reporting skills.
- Ability to demonstrate strong leadership qualities where he or she shows an ability to influence team members, engage relevant stakeholders, target and manage members.
