Job Summary
- The Senior Internal Auditor leads a team of auditors to evaluate all processes and systems of an airline organization to assess its risks and internal controls for managing them.
- As a senior internal auditor, you will be performing financial, operational, compliance, and special audits (such as investigations, reported fraud cases, etc) on the organization’s businesses to identify risks and controls that may have an impact on the integrity of reported financial information or the achievement of business goals and objectives.
- Also responsible for analyzing and examining the organization’s books and records of accounts to ensure and ascertain that they are being recorded in strict compliance with the government and other regulators’ rules and regulations.
Duties / Responsibilities
- Leading audit teams
- Monitoring the workloads of the team members
- Adjusting or redistributing assigned assignments, taking into cognizance and account the capacity and capabilities of each team member and the needs of the organization or stakeholders’ expectations
- The senior internal auditor will be involved in understanding the current business risks and controls to identify areas of risk that may require stronger controls
- Developing a comprehensive audit program for the company and also prioritizing audit steps and test plans
- Will be responsible for utilizing various analytical methods for developing audit programs, testing execution, and issuing validation
- Responsible for carrying out and documenting testing and work-throughs of processes and controls, with appropriate validation
- Validating and documenting remediation issues and improvement opportunities, as well as working together with process owners to develop practical recommendations
- Conducting internal audits and assessments, preparing, and reviewing work papers of other auditors to ensure and ascertain that the quality, objectives, and goals of the audits are duly achieved
- Conducting interviews with all levels of personnel, from staff to top/senior/executive management, to evaluate processes and organizational systems.
- Perform various functions, including audits, either individually or as a part of a small or large team, and are responsible for the planning, execution, and delivery of the final audit report.
- Must understand the various risks, processes, and controls, IT systems, business performance metrics, operational challenges, and business initiatives to successfully lead the audit team
Experience & Qualification
- A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or Business Administration
- Advanced certifications such as ACA (ICAN), ACCA, CIA, CPA, M.Sc., MBA
- A minimum of five (5) years industry-relevant and hands-on experience in a finance or internal audit department of a global audit firm (such as the Big 4)
- Advanced knowledge of internal controls across the various business cycles (e.g., finance reporting, audit reporting, etc
- Previous experience in the Aviation industry is an added advantage.
Required Skills:
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Programs (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access)
- Knowledge of SAP and Data Analytics software, including ACL or IDEA, is an added advantage
- Excellent Communication skills, both written and verbal, towards all stakeholders
- Robust supervisory skills to be able to supervise the work of audit teams and motivate, mentor, inspire, and work with them to achieve desired goals and objectives
- A very robust and good interpersonal skills to develop relationships, interact with teams, and promote open communication among teams
- A creative thinker, innovative, and problem-solving skills, with robust risk awareness and thorough understanding of processes, policies, and procedures, and of course, the control process
- Ability to identify problems and prioritize situations that require urgent attention.
