The Nigerian Red Cross Society (NRCS) was established through an Act of the Parliament in 1960 to complement public authorities in humanitarian interventions with the mandate to prevent and alleviate human suffering at times of peace or conflict, and to support individuals and communities to respond effectively to emergencies, without any form of discrimination as to class, gender, race, political opinions or religion.

We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Senior Fund-Raising Officer (Corporate)

Location: Abuja
Employment Type: Full-time

Job Purpose

  • The role will proactively engage with the local business communities and business leaders across Nigeria to maximize income generation by offering sector-leading stewardship and ideation for new and existing supporters.
  • He/She is responsible for identifying, cultivating, and securing funding partnerships to support the successful execution of the Nigerian Red Cross programs.
  • Under the supervision of the General Manager Fundraising and Resource mobilization, the Senior Fundraising officer will coordinate the fundraising and grant-seeking activities, manage the day-to-day operations, and ensure efficient management of its resources, plan, develop and implement the financial activities in accordance with the individual program budgets and ensure wholesome and effective Program documentation.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Writing grant proposals: The senior fundraising officer writes grant proposals and secures funding from local and international donors to support the organization’s programs and services.
  • Cultivating relationships with donors: The senior fundraising officer cultivates and maintains relationships with donors and sponsors, ensuring that they feel appreciated and valued for their contributions.
  • Preparing fundraising materials: The senior fundraising officer creates and prepares fundraising materials such as brochures, annual reports, and other communication pieces that will help attract and retain donors.
  • Conducting prospect research: The senior fundraising officer conducts research to identify new potential donors, sponsors, and funding sources to support the organization’s programs and services.
  • Organizing events: The senior fundraising officer organizes and develops fundraising events to raise awareness and attract new donors to support the organization.
  • Working with the fundraising team: The senior fundraising officer works with the fundraising team, including other fundraising officers and support staff to ensure the smooth functioning of the fundraising department and the organization’s overall resource mobilization strategy.
  • Developing and implementing donor stewardship plan: The senior fundraising officer develops and implements a donor stewardship plan to ensure that donors are engaged with the organization beyond their initial contribution. This can include sending regular updates on the organization’s programs, services, and financial performance, and inviting them to events and other activities. Prepare and submit a report of the findings of the contract review and contract management process to the Assets Development and Management department with specific recommendations for their enhancement.

Requirements
Qualifications & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, or any related field; an MBA is an added advantage. 
  • At least 6-7years of experience in fundraising and development, preferably with nonprofit organizations or foundations. 
  • Project management qualifications and proven skills. 
  • Proven track-record in fundraising, specifically for large-scale events and projects. 
  • Self-sufficient dossier/client list and potential sponsors. 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. 
  • Negotiation and deal-closing presentation skills. 
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, managing multiple priorities effectively. 
  • Familiarity with donor relations and stewardship.
