WHAT WE DO …
SOLIDARITES INTERNATIONAL (SI) is an association of’ international humanitarian aid which, for nearly 40 years, has been providing relief to populations affected by armed conflicts and natural disasters by responding to the vital needs of, drinking, eating, s’abriter. Particularly engaged in the fight against diseases related to unhealthy’, the leading cause of death in the world, SI implements through its interventions an expertise in the field of’access to drinking’water,’sanitation and the promotion of hygiene but also in that, essential, of, food security and means of’. Present in about twenty countries, SI – teams more than 3000 people in total composed of’expatriates, national staffs, permanent staff at headquarters, etc,some volunteers..- intervene with professionalism and commitment in respect of cultures.
The regional office in Dakar aims to strengthen its technical team in response to the need for technical support in Water, Hygiene and Sanitation (EHA) on the part of the missions of the region and the need for’a positioning EHA in regional platforms. The regional office is based in Dakar and has an annual budget of about 200,000 euros and is composed of’a Deputy Director of Operations in the Sahel and Lake Chad as well as’a regional expert SAME, France, d’une Regional Expert in Transversal Protection and’a Responsible Access and Security.

REASON D’ETRE
Solidarity International is a humanitarian association that works with vulnerable populations, mainly victims of armed conflict and natural disasters. Specialized for 40 years in the coverage of vital needs, it takes care of’emergency and reconstruction programs.
The’Expert.e Regional.e, attached to the Desk Sahel supports the teams of the following countries (Burkina Faso, Mali, Niger, Chad, etc, Cameroon and Gulf of Guinea – we will refer to it as « countries in the region »). He/she contributes to the’ attainment of an optimum level of quality of projects through different missions according to the specific needs of these countries :
- Development of the regional EHA strategy in collaboration with headquarters ;
- Development of an EHA project portfolio and related technical expertise within the country teams,
- Deployment and operationalization of technical framing documents ;
- Training, capacity building and team coaching ;
- Representation of SI expertise externally.
In order to carry out its responsibilities, a deployment on the countries of the region will be planned up to 50% of the time.
The position will be placed under hierarchical supervision of the Referent.e Desk Sahel Program, and under the functional supervision of the EHA Pole Manager at headquarters. The regional expert.e EHA will not have a team to supervise directly but he / she will be the functional supervisor of the EHA coordinators in missions in the region.
GENERAL FUNCTIONS
Within the regional office in Dakar, L’expert.e regional.e EHA is in charge of :
- Develop the’ portfolio of activities and projects in the EHA sector in the countries of the region ;
- Support the’ emergence and launch of operations in the EHA sector in particular by supporting country teams ;
- Contribute to the improvement of IS programmatic practices, to the dissemination of internal/institutional guidelines and guidelines at regional level ;
- Provide direct operational support to deploy these guidelines /frameworks in countries ;
- Support the creation or strengthening of partnerships with NGOs/humanitarian and development associations, and any relevant actors for the implementation of quality interventions in the region ;
- Contribute to the strengthening of institutional knowledge, to the creation of’expertise ;
- Support technical and humanitarian advocacy and contribute to the visibility and external positioning of IS in the region.
YOUR PROFILE
University degree of minimum level BAC + 5 in one of the fields associated with’Water, Hygiene and Sanitation
At least 5 years of’ experience in EAH project management
Significant expertise and experience in the Sahel region
Excellent analytical and editorial skills
Appetence for field trips, conducting diagnostics
IF YOU WILL OFFER THE FOLLOWING CONDITIONS
Employee position :
According to the’experience, from 3190 euros gross per month, (2900 euros basic salary + 10% paid holiday bonus paid monthly), as well as’un Per Diem monthly.
SI also covers accommodation costs as well as travel costs between the country of origin of the expatriate’ and the place of mission.
Social coverage :
L’expatriate(e) benefits from’a quality social cover to cover all health costs and’an accident contingency including war risks.
Break : During the mission, work-rest alternation is provided by breaks scheduled every three months with an allowance of 850 USD.
On the basis of’a 1-year mission, breaks of 7 working days to 3 , 6 and 9 months of mission (with a participation of 850 USD paid by Solidarities).
To these break times, it is necessary to add the’granting d’1 additional rest day per month worked> or 12 days in + for a contract d’1 year.
CONDITIONS OF LIFE :
The living conditions in Dakar are good and pleasant. No specific security constraints in Dakar where conditions are good. When deployed, living conditions and security conditions vary by country.
