Halifield School – Founded in 1996, Halifield School was initially situated on Salami Street, Mende until 2003 when it relocated to its permanent premises on Oki Lane, Maryland, Lagos. In 2009, Halifield commenced a secondary school which is a preparatory ground for university entry and a grooming centre for adolescents.

We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: School Librarian

Location: Lagos
Reports to: Vice Principals
Supervises: Students

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Establish and implement library and information policy procedures.
  • Develop and manage convenient and accessible library services.
  • Develop library rules and regulations for library users.
  • Establish and manage a budget for the library.
  • Compile and procure relevant materials to stock the library.
  • Maintain a decent and sequential organization of library materials.
  • Respond to daily needs of library users.
  • Encourage students and teachers to make use of the library.
  • Monitor the borrowing and returning of books.
  • Evaluate materials to determine outdated and unused items to be discarded.
  • Take charge of the collation, procurement and distribution of the students’ textbooks for the session.
  • Maintain proper book store records of inflow and outflow of school textbooks – rentals and outright purchase books.
  • Liaise with publishers of school textbooks.

Education and Work Experience

  • First degree in Library Science or any related field.
  • Three (3) years work experience.
  • Education: 1 year (Preferred)

Skills and Competencies:

  • Ability to manage a library and its collections.
  • Research skills.
  • Organizational skills.
  • Strong IT skills and familiarity with the use of a database and internet.
  • Presentation and verbal communication skills.
  • Teamwork and management skills.

Salary
N120,000 – N150,000 Monthly.
