
Pro-Health International was founded in 1991 by four medical professionals: Drs. Mark Umoh, Efem Iyeme, Owido Udofia, and Iko Ibanga, who were concerned about taking free, quality healthcare to rural communities in Africa where easy access to healthcare was a challenge.

Primary Responsibilities
- Secures premises and personnel; monitoring surveillance equipment; inspecting buildings, equipment, and access points.
- S/he will assist in maintaining a safe and secure environment for PHI employees and visitors, premises, and assets as well as maintaining regular communication with staff during field movement.
- Maintains the organization’s stability and reputation by complying with legal requirements.
- Ensures operation of equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements; following manufacturer’s instructions; troubleshooting malfunctions; calling for repairs; evaluating new equipment and techniques.
- Prevents losses and damage by reporting irregularities; informing violators of policy and procedures; and restraining trespassers.
- Completes reports by recording observations, information, occurrences, and surveillance activities; interviewing witnesses; obtaining signatures.
- Maintains environment by monitoring and setting building and equipment controls.
- Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
- Be familiar with PHI’s Safety and Security procedures and policies and Safe and Sound Manual and support the Security Manager and Bauchi state team lead, in ensuring they are adhered to at all times.
- Undertake continual assessments of equipment (including vehicles) and organizational assets to ensure that minimal conditions for security are met. Prevent loss and damage by reporting irregularities; and informing violators of policy and procedures
- Ensure collaboration with the NGO security clusters and attend any security coordination meetings.
- Alongside the relevant operational focal people, ensure that relevant staff members understand and can use this equipment, including radios, satellite phones, fire extinguishers, etc. through regular training and orientations for new staff.
- Track vehicle movements where and when required until the safe arrival of staff/contract workers to their final destination.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Security Management, Disaster Management, International Relations, or a related field with a minimum of 5 years of experience in security operations, preferably in IDP settings.
- Strong expertise in risk assessments, safety protocols, and emergency response planning for humanitarian operations in volatile environments.
- Familiarity with international security frameworks (UNDSS, INSO, NGO security protocols) and national security laws affecting displaced populations.
- Experience in developing and implementing security strategies to protect staff, beneficiaries, and assets in IDP camps or crisis-affected areas.
- Proven ability to liaise with security agencies, community leaders, and humanitarian organizations to enhance safety in IDP operations.
