POSITION: ROVING SENIOR FINANCE OFFICER
LOCATION: ABUJA

JOB SUMMARY:

The Roving Senior Finance Officer plays a critical role in ensuring effective financial management and control across multiple regions for MSI Nigeria Reproductive Choices. This role involves supervising financial controls, conducting supportive supervision visits, and providing backstopping support to regional offices and centers. The Senior Finance Officer contributes to the preparation of financial statements, budget monitoring, and reconciliation activities. With strong financial acumen, attention to detail, and knowledge of donor regulations, the Senior Finance Officer supports the organization’s financial integrity and ensures compliance. Additionally, effective communication and collaboration with stakeholders are essential to excel in this role.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Ensure sound financial controls in all MSI Nigeria service delivery channels in each regional office.
  • Quarterly supportive supervision visits to regional offices and centres and ensure all controls are in place and are working effectively.
  • Backstopping and providing support to RFO and CSE on a timely and consistent basis.
  • Contribute to monthly management and annual statutory accounts and provide support during project audits.
  • Prepare monthly bank reconciliation statements of all regional bank accounts.
  • Prepare monthly bank reconciliation statements for all the MSI Nigeria centres.
  • Ensure proper transaction filing system is maintained for all financial activities at the regional offices and centres.
  • Review financial postings before they are posted into SUN and perform post reviews to identify undetected errors for recode.
  • Advise FD through the FM in upgrading financial procedures and policies as and when required and on a timely basis.
  • Monitor funds utilization against the quarterly budget for consistency and to ensure a proper Budget Variance Analysis report/reconciliation monthly.
  • Coordinate closely with the Inventory and Asset Management team to get monthly stock report on a timely basis and verify stock report with service data before entering in SUN system.
  • Ensure proper monthly reconciliation of FP stock issued to team members for sales in different channels. Ensure proper sign off by each relevant stakeholder.
  • Active participation in annual BP process and quarterly forecasting development process.
  • Monitor staff accounts and track retirements on a regular basis to ensure all advances taken are retired timely.
  • Any other duties as may be requested by the Finance Manager or any other Senior Management Team members.

KEY EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A degree in accounting with a minimum of 2nd class Upper division or its equivalent, and a recognized professional qualification such as ACA, ACCA, etc.
  • 5-7 years’ experience in a similar role with an NGO/INGO.
  • Working knowledge of different donors USAID, DFID, UNFPA, Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation etc.
  • Ability to use SUN Accounting package and other accounting packages.
  • Advanced Excel skills preferred.
  • Ability to multitask, manage a workload and produce high-quality reports.
  • Good team player and flexible while working with other colleagues.

  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to interact effectively with other external counsel, global MSI team members, diverse in-house client groups, senior executives, and third parties.
  • Strong ability to think strategically, creatively, and innovatively.
  • High professionalism, self-motivation, efficiency, and results-oriented delivery on short timelines.
  • Ability to interact effectively with business and technical clients in a fast-paced environment.
