OBJECTIVES OF THE PROGRAMME

DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES

Lead, coordinate and manage NMRIMS at the WHO Office in the country, ensuring that all aspects of the development and implementation of WHO plans in the country improve the health and well-being of women, newborns, children and adolescents within the continuum of life in the country; andProvide advice and support for capacity building, monitoring the implementation of work plans, reporting, and oversight of all aspects of the activities of the NIHRS in the country, including documentation and sharing of best practices; andAssist the country in consolidating information and information related to NISA data in order to highlight the progress made andidentify the challenges to achieving the programmatic objectives and, on the basis of these documents, identify the technical support needed to improve or maintain progress ; Advance and coordinate technical support to the national area of NISA by ensuring effective integration with other WHO programs, including in particular, the expanded Vaccination Programme (ENP) and the global polio eradication initiative (GPEI), and across the Organization’s various levels, including, but not limited to, monitoring health and welfare trends, coverage of evidence-based interventions for women, newborns, children and adolescents ; andEnsure that technical support takes into account the issues of transmission of HIV, andsyphilis and hepatite B from mother to child, human rights and gender equity, social determinants of health and multisectoral collaboration ; Serving as a scientific and technical reference in the country, with professional associations, universities and research institutions, United Nations agencies and other stakeholders with the support of the regional office and linking the three levels of the organization ; Advocate for the strengthening of strategic partnerships, including, but not limited to, re-direction of proposals and proactive participation in resource mobilization campaigns for NISA ; Assume other related accountabilities as required, including replacement and support ofother people, the case running.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Education

Essential: A university degree in medicine or other health-related field and a university degree advances in public health, or pediatrics, or obstetric and gynecology.
Desirable:

Experience

Essential: At least seven (7) years of experience in SRMNIA including at least 3 at the international level.
Desirable: Professional experience working with international organizations (e.g. UN, NGO).

Skills

Competencies in program management of SRMNIA, preferred in the context of public health programs in a context of limited resources. Knowledge of the national health system of countries has limited resources.A proven experience in cross-sectoral collaboration and a capacity to work with other agencies and development partners. Technical expertise and a generally positive attitude towards work are part of the mandatory skills required.Sustained experience and skills in data analysis and reporting ; strong skills in proposal writing to donors and reporting as well as partner coordination.

REMUNERATION

WHO salaries for staff in the Professional category are calculated in US dollars. The remuneration for the above position included an annual base salary starting at USD 77,326 (subject to mandate deductions for pension contributions and health insurance, as applicable), a variable post adjustment, which reflects the cost of living in a particular duty station, and currently amounts to USD 3860 per month for the duty station indicated above. Other benefits include 30 days of annual leave, allowances for dependent family members, home leave, and an education grant for dependent children.
