Job Title: QHSE Specialist
Location: Port Harcourt, Rivers
Summary
- We are looking for a proactive and detail-oriented QHSE Personnel with solid experience in marine industry standards and operations.
- The ideal candidate will support the company’s Quality, Health, Safety, and Environmental objectives, with hands-on experience in OVID inspections, Class surveys, vessel certifications, and regulatory documentation.
- This role is crucial in ensuring that all company operations, both onshore and offshore, comply with industry standards and client expectations.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee and ensure compliance with Safety Management Systems on baord the vessels.
- Monitor and ensure compliance with applicable HSE standards (ISM, ISPS, MLC, MARPOL, SOLAS, etc.).
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives in HSE practices, policies, and procedures.
- Plan and coordinate OVID inspections, ensuring full compliance with OCIMF requirements.
- Manage and maintain up-to-date Class surveys, vessel certifications, and statutory documentation.
- Conduct regular vessels and site HSE inspections, risk assessments, and internal audits.
- Facilitate HSE training, drills, and toolbox talks for crew and shore-based staff.
- Investigate incidents and near misses; recommend and track corrective actions.
- Interface with clients, auditors, and regulatory authorities during inspections and audits.
- Prepare and submit timely reports on QHSE performance, non-conformities, and compliance issues.
Requirements (Education/Training/Experience)
- Bachelor’s Degree in Safety Management, Marine Engineering, Environmental Science, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a QHSE role within the marine industry (offshore support vessels preferred).
- Solid knowledge of OVID inspections, Class and Flag State surveys, and marine certifications/documentation.
- Strong understanding of international maritime safety regulations and compliance requirements.
- Certified in NEBOSH, IOSH, ISO 9001, 14001, and 45001 is a strong advantage.
- Excellent report writing, communication, and coordination skills.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a cross-functional team.
