Job Profile

  • The Project Management Officer will play a pivotal role in supporting the Strategy Department of the OPEC Fund for International Development in driving the institution’s strategic agenda.
  • This includes monitoring the implementation of strategic initiatives, action plans, performance targets, and policies across four specialized units: Strategic Planning, Innovative Financing Solutions, Sustainability & Climate Change, and Development Effectiveness.
  • The role involves close collaboration with internal stakeholders to ensure effective coordination and alignment with institutional goals. Key responsibilities include collecting and analyzing strategic data, contributing to decision-making processes, and providing insights that support the achievement of long-term objectives.
  • Additionally, the officer will assist the Vice President’s Front Office in planning, budgeting, project management, and performance tracking, ensuring smooth execution of departmental priorities. 

Duties and Responsibilities
Coordination and Project Management   

  • Monitors and evaluates the progress and impact of strategic initiatives, ensuring alignment with organizational objectives. 
  • Conducts regular reviews and assessments of ongoing projects, identifying potential risks, challenges, and opportunities.
  • Designs and develops key performance indicators and implement effective monitoring frameworks to track strategic performance and provide recommendations for improvement. 
  • Supports planning and execution of work plans, budgets, staffing and other departmental initiatives. 
  • Coordinates and follows up with the Directors of the four Strategy Units on relevant matters

Data Standardization, Analysis and Digitalization: 

  • Develops data collection methodologies and tools, ensuring accuracy, reliability, and timeliness of data. 
  • Collects, analyses, and interprets relevant data to inform strategic decision-making and organizational performance.
  • Conducts quantitative and qualitative analysis to derive insights, identify trends, and support evidence-based decision-making. 

Research and Market Analysis:   

  • Conducts research on emerging trends, best practices, and innovations in international development.  

Communication:

  • Maintains effective communication channels within the department and with external stakeholders
  • Ensures clear and consistent messaging in all departmental communications.
  • Performs any other tasks as may be assigned by the Vice President, Strategy Department.   

Qualifications and Experience

  • A Master’s Degree in Economics, Public Administration, Business Administration, Project Management or Engineering or a (closely) related field   
  • A minimum of 5 years relevant professional experience, of which at least 2 years relevant work experience in an international development institution. 
  • Fluent in English. Good working knowledge of Arabic, French or Spanish is an added advantage.
