Established in 1951, IOM is the leading inter-governmental organization in the field of migration and works closely with governmental, intergovernmental and non-governmental partners. IOM is dedicated to promoting humane and orderly migration for the benefit of all. It does so by providing services and advice to governments and migrants.

ORGANIZATIONAL CONTEXT AND SCOPE: 

IOM Thailand has launched the Humanitarian, Development, Peace Nexus (HDPN) project starting in January 2023 with aims to promote equitable inclusive societies where migrants, mobile populations and communities are able to access essential services, and rights of migrant populations are respected. IOM Thailand also has ongoing projects on Tuberculosis and other health topics in border areas and the temporary shelters on the Thailand – Myanmar borders to support the health response to the Myanmar influx into Thailand.

In light of this, Migration Health Division (MHD) seeks to promote right to health and inclusive policy for migrants in Thailand. This includes the provision of direct assistance to migrants in relation to promoting equitable inclusive societies in which migrants, mobile populations, and communities have access to essential services and the rights of migrant populations are respected. To support vulnerable migrants, irrespective of their legal status and possible challenges, migrant communities will be supported through various activities including health screening, distribution of health kits, health referral and treatment facilitation, conducting health outreach and capacity building to various target groups, as well as Mental Health and Psychosocial Support and Psychological First Aid assistance.

Under the overall supervision of Chief Migration health Officer in Bangkok and direct supervision of Migration Health Officer in Bangkok and, the successful candidate will be responsible and accountable for supporting the migration health projects development and implementation in IOM Thailand.

  • Assist in the organization and implementation of project activities including distribution of health kits, conducting health outreach and capacity building activities.
  • Support administrative coordination of project implementation involving liaison with different stakeholders including the Ministry of Public Health and national/international organizations.
  • Draft migration health concept notes, proposals and reports.
  • Provide technical advice from a public health perspective on the ongoing activities.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

EDUCATION

  • University degree or higher in Public Health, or a related field from an accredited academic institution with at least two years of relevant professional experience; or
  • High school diploma with at least four years of relevant professional experience.

Accredited Universities are those listed in the UNESCO World Higher Education Database.

EXPERIENCE

  • Experience working for non-governmental organizations, international governmental organizations or government institutions;
  • Experience working in a health governmental or a non-governmental organization;
  • Skills in health projects planning and implementation, with reports righting skills;
  • Experience in working on migration health is a strong asset;
  • Experience working in a multi-cultural environment and demonstrated capacity to respect diversity.

SKILLS

  • Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality is mandatory;
  • Sound knowledge of programme implementation and evaluation;
  • Demonstrated knowledge of information technology and proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher, and SharePoint.

LANGUAGES

  • Fluency in English and Thai (oral and written) is required.
