Pro-Health International is a faith-based, non-profit organization that has provided free health care services to under-served populations in Nigeria for over 32years.CDC and USAID have funded PHI to implement HIV/AIDS prevention, treatment, and care projects, OVC projects and Global Health security projects.

The ICHSSA-4 project is a 5-year USAID-funded award that commenced in December 2019 and will run up until December 2024. The project is being implemented by a consortium of partners, with Pro-Health International (PHI) as the lead partner and Catholic Relief Services (CRS) as the sub in Adamawa, Bauchi Taraba, Sokoto, Zamfara and Kebbi states. The ICHSSA 4 project aims to ensurethat Orphans and Vulnerable Children (OVC) are cared for and protected by their households, communities, local and state governments to reduce their vulnerability to HIV.

We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Programs Associate

Locations: Sokoto and Taraba
Employment Type: Contract

Job Summary

  • The Program Associate will be working directly with PHI technical team and other Implementing partners to support community case workers (CCWs), caregivers, and community stakeholders to implement programs that are culturally acceptable and age-appropriate to promote gender mainstreaming in the project communities.

Gender:

  • S/heprovides services to Caregivers and Adolescent boys and girlsto identify issues of Child Sexual Abuse (CSA) and GBV through culturally acceptable and age-appropriate content
  • S/he participates in referral mechanism meetings to strengthen linkages between the communities and health facilities for ASRH and gender-based violence, including implementation of a clinical pathway for the treatment of sexual assault survivors;
  • S/heprovides services to community case workers, child protection committees,and other key stakeholders on gender integration and child protection;

Psychosocial Support:

  • S/he will manage program activities implemented by CSO staff and CCWs in the provision of psychosocial service to beneficiaries, and coordinate all responses and implementation activities to ensure optimal and adequate PLH deliverables.
  • S/he supervises CSOs in the implementation of block grants and advocacy visits to SUBEB.

Nutrition:

  • S/heworks focus primarily on nutrition, and WASH, and support cross-cutting nutrition themes and integration efforts across the project with other areas of OVC programming.
  • S/he will guide volunteers in community activities and facilitate direct interaction with households.

Requirements

  • Candidate must hold a BSc / HND in Social Sciences or a Health-related field (MPH or Masters in Development studies will be an added advantage). Candidate must have completed NYSC.
  • Minimum of 2 years experience with an NGO or organization implementing OVC
  • Familiarity with cultural issues around gender response in the North West.
  • Demonstrable skill in the use of word processors (MSWord, Excel, and PowerPoint)
  • Ability to take initiative and perform under intense pressure, and ability to work in a team.
