Key Responsibilities:

Program Development and Strategic Planning

  • Lead the development of new programs in alignment with the strategic direction of the organization.
  • Create and manage long-term goals for program sustainability and impact.
  • Develop comprehensive strategies to attract funding from multilateral and multinational institutions, regional and international donors, as well as corporate organizations.

Budget Management and Funding

  • Develop and manage program budgets, ensuring efficient allocation and utilization of resources.
  • Identify and pursue funding opportunities, leading grant proposal development efforts to secure financial support.

Partnership and Relationship Management

  • Foster and maintain relationships with partners, donors, and other key stakeholders, ensuring productive collaboration and partnership.
  • Play a pivotal role in revenue generation by prospecting potential donors, generating leads, qualifying prospects, and managing successful funding outcomes.
  • Develop creative strategies to retain partners, including conducting interviews to gather feedback and integrating it into the organization’s growth plan.

Program Implementation and Evaluation

  • Oversee the entire program lifecycle, from conception through to completion, ensuring programs are effectively delivered and aligned with organizational goals.
  • Coordinate with stakeholders, including government agencies, NGOs, and community leaders, to ensure effective program delivery.
  • Monitor and evaluate program performance, reporting to senior management and funders regularly.

Leadership and Representation

  • Represent the organization at industry forums, client meetings, and conferences, enhancing its visibility and impact.
  • Mentor and supervise program staff and volunteers, fostering a culture of growth and learning.
  • Undertake additional tasks and responsibilities as assigned by the COO and management to achieve the objectives and goals of the hub.

Compliance and Reporting

  • Ensure compliance with organizational policies and external regulations, obtaining clearances and reporting to the Executive Director on all significant aspects.

Desirable Skills and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in environmental science, Sustainable Development, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in program management, preferably in the environmental or non-profit sector.
  • Strong leadership and project management skills.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement abilities.
  • Knowledge of climate change issues and sustainable development practices in Africa.

Key Performance Indicators 

  • Program Delivery: Successful execution of programs within budget and timeline.
  • Impact Measurement: Achievement of program objectives and measurable outcomes, such as community engagement, policy influence, or environmental improvements.
  • Stakeholder Satisfaction: Positive feedback from partners, funders, and program participants.
  • Funding Acquisition: Amount of funds raised, or grants secured for program activities.
  • Team Management: Effective leadership and development of program staff and volunteers.

Interview Process 

  • Climate Action Africa is committed to a transparent and efficient interview process. Here’s what you can expect:
  • Introduction Stage: Our initial conversation will help us get acquainted with you and understand your overall experience. This is a great opportunity for you to learn more about our organization and the role.
  • Take-home Assessment/Project (Within 7 Days): You will be given a task or project to complete at home, which will help us assess your skills and suitability for the role.
  • Feedback from the Recruiter: After reviewing your assessment, our recruiter will provide feedback and discuss the next steps.
  • Final Interview with Management: This is your opportunity to meet with our management team and discuss your potential fit within the organization. Feel free to ask questions and inquire about any aspect of the role or our operations.
  • The entire interview process is expected to take a maximum of 3 weeks and will be conducted virtually, with an average total time commitment of 2.5 hours.

Working Hours:

  • The standard working hours for this position are 9:00 am to 5:00 pm West Africa Time (WAT), for at least 40 hours per week
