Primary School Hostel Coordinator and Tutor (Boarders) at TAAS Group of Schools



TAAS Group of School is a school made up of Nursery, Primary and Secondary school. The school’s academic programme is divided into two sections: Quran and Arabic section which is handled by specific teachers and the western Educational section handle by different teachers.

We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Primary School Hostel Coordinator and Tutor (Boarders)

Location: Ibadan, Oyo

Key Responsibilities
Hostel Coordination:

  • Oversee the day-to-day operations of the boarding facility.
  • Ensure the safety, welfare, and discipline of all boarders.
  • Supervise hostel routines including waking, meals, prep time, recreation, and bedtime.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and homely hostel environment.
  • Enforce hostel rules and manage student behavior consistently and fairly.
  • Maintain clear communication with parents/guardians regarding students’ welfare.

Pastoral Care:

  • Foster a supportive and nurturing atmosphere that promotes moral and social development.
  • Act as a mentor and counselor to the pupils, supporting their emotional well-being.
  • Provide basic first aid and handle minor health concerns before referring to health professionals if necessary.

Tutoring/Academic Support:

  • Supervise prep time and provide academic support, especially in core subjects like English, Mathematics, and Science.
  • Track students’ academic performance and liaise with classroom teachers to provide feedback and additional help where needed.
  • Organize educational and enrichment activities during evenings and weekends.

Requirements

  • Minimum of an NCE, B.Ed. or B.Sc. in Education or related field.
  • At least 2 years of experience working with children in a residential or school setting.
  • Strong leadership, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Patience, empathy, and a passion for working with young children.
  • Ability to uphold discipline while creating a warm and welcoming environment.
  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and public holidays as required.
  • Basic knowledge of child safeguarding and first aid (training can be provided).
  • Familiarity with Islamic values and routines (preferred but not mandatory).
