We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Pipeline Engineer

Location: Port Harcourt, Rivers
Industry: Oil and Gas

Job Summary

  • You will be responsible for the design, construction, maintenance, and operation of our extensive network of pipelines.
  • This role requires a strong understanding of pipeline engineering principles, regulations, and industry best practices, as well as the ability to manage projects effectively within budget and schedule constraints.

Main Responsibilities
Pipeline Design and Engineering:

  • Develop pipeline design specifications, including route selection, material selection, and sizing calculations.
  • Perform hydraulic analysis and stress analysis to ensure the integrity and reliability of the pipeline system.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to integrate pipeline design with other project components, such as facilities and infrastructure.

Project Management:

  • Plan and coordinate pipeline construction projects from inception to completion, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and company standards.
  • Develop project schedules, budgets, and resource plans, and monitor progress against milestones.
  • Identify and mitigate project risks and implement effective project controls to achieve project objectives.

Pipeline Integrity Management:

  • Implement a comprehensive pipeline integrity management program to assess, monitor, and maintain the condition of pipelines.
  • Conduct risk assessments and inspections to identify potential threats to pipeline integrity, such as corrosion, erosion, and third-party damage.
  • Develop and implement mitigation strategies to address identified threats and ensure the safe and reliable operation of the pipeline system.

Regulatory Compliance:

  • Stay abreast of relevant regulations, codes, and standards governing pipeline design, construction, and operation in Nigeria.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and obtain necessary permits and approvals for pipeline projects.
  • Liaise with regulatory authorities and participate in regulatory audits and inspections as required.

Technical Support and Troubleshooting:

  • Provide technical support to field operations and maintenance teams to resolve pipeline-related issues and optimize performance.
  • Investigate incidents, failures, and deviations from operating parameters and develop corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
  • Collaborate with vendors and contractors to procure materials, equipment, and services required for pipeline projects.

Educational Qualifications and Skills

  • University Degree in Engineering (An MBA or MSc in Petroleum Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or any related discipline)
  • Minimum of 15 years of upstream oil industry experience, with clear results of operational excellence in different terrains, and locations across the world.
  • Strong knowledge of pipeline design codes and standards (e.g., API, ASME, ISO) and familiarity with relevant Nigerian regulations.        
  • Proficiency in pipeline simulation software (e.g., Caesar II, PipeFlow) and CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks).
  • Project management certification (e.g., PMP) is an asset.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team environment.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a commitment to safety, quality, and environmental stewardship.
