Job Title: Petrophysicist – HLP

Location: Lagos
Department: Development & Exploration

Job Summary

  • This HLP role provides hands-on exposure to formation evaluation workflows, core-log integration, and reservoir property modelling to build expertise as a Petrophysicist.
  • The successful candidate will join a competent team of petrophysicists responsible for integrating multidisciplinary data to generate and mature near-, mid- and long-term oil adding opportunities.
  • He/she will work in the Subsurface team and with other Petroleum Engineering Functions to address technical deliverables as assigned by the team leadership.

Key Accountabilities

  • Assist in log data mining, reconciliation, quality check and collation to aid further Petrophysical and Petroleum Engineering analyses.
  • Assist in log processing, interpretation, and evaluation to determine key reservoir properties such as porosity, permeability, water saturation, etc.
  • Contribute to the integrated analysis of well logs, core data, and other geological data/information to evaluate hydrocarbon potential and reservoir characteristics.
  • Assist in the preparation of petrophysical reports, presentations, and data summaries. Maintain organized petrophysical database.
  • Actively participate in multidisciplinary well, reservoir and facilities management (WRFM), and well surveillance review sessions.

Qualification

  • Bachelor’s Degree at 2nd Class Upper division, in Engineering, Physical Sciences or other related courses.
  • 3-5 years relevant experience in Engineering, Geoscience, or other related disciplines.
  • Mandatory NYSC discharge certificate
  • A higher degree is an advantage.

Requisite Technical & Behavioural Skills:

  • Good technical, analytical, conceptual, and problem-solving skills.
  • Good collaboration, relationship management and interpersonal skills.
  • Solid foundation in mathematics, physics, and data analysis.
  • Self-starter with strong capacity for multitasking.
  • Effective oral and written communication and presentation skills.
  • Demonstrable intelligence and quick learning potential.
  • Good knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, etc.).
  • Use of software tools such as Techlog, IP, and Geolog.
  • Good knowledge of the principles and Laws of Physics.
