Job Title: Nutrition Officer

Reports to: Program Manager

Location: Kebbi State

Overview 

The Nutrition Officer will be responsible for distribution of food and specialized nutritious food, conducting monthly screenings of children (6-23 months) & PLW, and providing key messages on the adequate use of specialized nutritious foods and IYCF practices to all caregivers. 

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee the implementation of the nutrition component of the project, including the distribution of food and specialized nutritious food. 
  • Conduct monthly screenings of children (6-23 months) and PLW. 
  • Provide key messages on adequate use of specialized nutritious foods and IYCF practices to all caregivers. 
  • Implement gender-sensitive and protection-focused programming, ensuring the safety and protection of all beneficiaries.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including government agencies, NGOs, and other partners.
  • Represent the project in relevant nutrition-related meetings and forums.
  • Implement safeguarding policies and procedures to prevent and respond to protection issues.
  • Ensure compliance with organizational and donor policies on gender and protection.

Qualifications

  • BSc degree in Nutrition, Public Health, or a related field.
  • At least 5 years of experience in nutrition programming.
  • Experience in the implementation of nutrition programs in a humanitarian setting. 
  • Strong knowledge of international nutrition standards and guidelines, including Nigeria CMAM Guideline, and WHO Global Strategy for Infant and Young Child Feeding.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Familiarity with UNICEF and WFP policies and procedures is an asset. 
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team. 
  • Ability to travel to remote areas and to work in challenging environments.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and data analysis tools.
  • Knowledge of local language and culture is an asset.
