We deliver assistance to affected populations before, during and after crisis situations. GHIV Africa was founded to mitigate the health deficit in Africa and to provide all forms of assistance leading to improved quality of life.

The organization is equally poised to support the delivery of healthcare services at the doorsteps of every African village by bridging the gap between primary health care delivery and tertiary health care services through a robust referral system. We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Nutrition Assistant

Location: Gajiram – Nganzai, Borno

Job Summary

  • We are seeking a qualified Nutrition Assistant to work on the TSFP Nutrition Project funded by WFP in Nganzai, Borno State.
  • The successful candidate will assist in implementing and monitoring Targeted Supplementary Feeding Program (TSFP) activities, providing support to the TSFP Nutrition Officer, and ensuring quality service delivery.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assist in implementing TSFP activities, including beneficiary registration, food distribution, and monitoring
  • Support nutrition assessments and identification of malnourished children
  • Provide support in nutrition counseling and education to caregivers
  • Assist in monitoring and reporting on project progress, achievements, and challenges
  • Ensure adherence to protocols and quality service delivery
  • Collaborate with health workers and other stakeholders
  • Participate in training and capacity-building activities
  • Maintain accurate records and reports
  • CNMs, and IMAMs
  • Collaborate with MEAL for accurate monitoring
  • Assist in organizing and conducting joint supervisions with the government and donors
  • Produce and submit monthly narrative reports to nutrition officer
  • Assist in comparing and submit 5Ws to nutrition officer on monthly basics
  • Assist in attending some monthly sector coordination meetings
  • Mobilize and assist in conducting LGA Coordination meetings
  • Give project update to the organization/supervisor when requires
  •  Carry out data validation exercise in conjunction with the MEAL on a quarterly basis.
  • Support other nutrition implementations implemented by GHIV Africa
  • Supervise and provide technically assistance to the CNMs/IMAMs
  • Collaborate with protection unit to ensure protection, and disability mainstreaming/inclusion in the program.
  • Work across the integrated components of the project (WASH, GBV, SRH, Child protect, and protection) and include in narrative report on a monthly basis
  •  And any other added tasks call open by the Organization and or by your supervisor.
  • Carry out community engagement with stakeholders and report on a quarterly basis.
  • To carry out any other related duties assigned to.

Requirements

  • Diploma or Certificate in Nutrition, Public Health, or related field
  • 1+ year of experience in nutrition programming, preferably in humanitarian settings
  • Must be computer literate using MS words, Excel etc.
  • Basic understanding of TSFP principles and protocols
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work in challenging environments
  • Fluency in local languages (Hausa, Kanuri, and Fulfulde)

Desirable:

  • Experience working with WFP-funded projects
  • Knowledge of humanitarian standards and principles
  • Familiarity with Northeast Nigeria context.
