Global Village Healthcare Initiative for Africa (GHIV Africa) is a Non-governmental, Non-for profit humanitarian/Developmental organization which started in 2014. We deliver assistance to affected populations before, during and after crisis situations. GHIV Africa was founded to mitigate the health deficit in Africa and to provide all forms of assistance leading to improved quality of life.

The organization is equally poised to support the delivery of healthcare services at the doorsteps of every African village by bridging the gap between primary health care delivery and tertiary health care services through a robust referral system. We offer assistance in need to the most vulnerable population regardless of their religion, race, gender and or political affiliation. Our decisions as an organization are not based on political, economic or religious interest but solely on needs of the affected population.

We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Nutrition Assistant

Location: Mafa, Borno

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assist in implementing nutrition interventions, including CMAM, IYCF, and nutrition education
  • Support nutrition assessments and identification of malnourished children
  • Provide support in nutrition counseling and education to caregivers
  • Assist in monitoring and reporting on project progress, achievements, and challenges
  • Ensure adherence to protocols and quality service delivery
  • Collaborate with health workers and other stakeholders
  • Participate in training and capacity-building activities
  • Maintain accurate records and reports
  • Follow up on children who are enrolled in the program directly, and or through the tom brown facilitators
  • Participate in training of lead-mother on how to prepare tom brown
  • Collaborate with protection unit to ensure protection, and disability mainstreaming/inclusion in the program.
  • Work across the integrated components of the project (WASH, GBV, SRH, Child protect, and protection) and include in narrative report on a monthly basis.
  • Mobilize, Facilitate, and Follow on CVAs for PLWs in the program
  • With scope registers with ensure accurate documentation of the beneficiary list.
  • Work in hand with the IMAMs to make sure key IYCF messages are maximally reached in the communities of implementation and to the appropriate PLWs in the program
  • Form and facilitate PMCs sessions.
  • Carry out community engagement with stakeholders and report on a quarterly basis.

Requirements

  • Diploma or Certificate in Nutrition, Public Health, or related field
  • 1+ year of experience in nutrition programming, preferably in humanitarian settings
  • Must be a computer literate/skills (MS Word, Excel, Outlook etc.)
  • Basic understanding of CMAM, IYCF, and nutrition education
  • Maximum Knowledge of Tom Brown Implementation
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work in challenging environments
  • Fluency in local languages (Hausa, Kanuri)
  • Experience working with WFP-funded projects
  • Knowledge of humanitarian standards and principles
  • Familiarity with Northeast Nigeria context
