Responsibilities

  • Work with partners to develop annual plans based on developed programs.
  • Represent the Country Director in their absence, ensuring responsible decision-making and upholding Sightsavers’ standards of excellence.
  • Ensure effective and smooth implementation of projects within budget, supporting partners in managing all aspects of project planning, implementation, financial management, monitoring, and evaluation.
  • Support partners to ensure learnings from project implementation.
  • Contribute to the documentation of good practices and innovative strategies that have enabled performance improvement.
  • Support the dissemination and sharing of experiences obtained during the implementation of NTD activities.
  • Assist in the preparation of financial forecasts and Activity Based Budgets for the NTD projects and monitor expenditure against these, together with partners.
  • Work with the Finance and Support Services Manager and project partners to ensure proper partner accountability for Donors and Sightsavers funds.
  • Be proactive in providing relevant and good quality information needed for fundraising, communication, and advocacy purposes.
  • Support the NTDs Team and CD to identify and maintain effective partnerships within the country to help sustain project achievements.
  • Support the NTDs team and the Finance & Support Services Officer and Manager to develop and implement a coherent plan of partner capacity building in relation to the projects in their portfolio.
  • Ensure submission of timely programme reports as per agreed format and timelines.
  • Manage monitoring and evaluation systems and structures associated with Partner supported activities aligning as fully as possible with MoH systems.
  • Work with the Ministry of Health and partners on how to interpret and use data/findings to guide decision making.
  • Act as the first point of contact for any safeguarding concerns and escalate them to the safeguarding mailbox immediately.

Jobholder Requirements

Essential:

  • Substantial experience in programme and project management, preferably in an NGO environment.
  • Strong skills in writing activity reports.
  • Good qualifications in monitoring and evaluation of projects/programmes.
  • Experience working in NTDs at the national and regional level (Onchocerciasis, Lymphatic Filariasis, Schistosomiasis, Soil-Transmitted Helminths, and Trachoma).
  • Good communication skills (both written and spoken).
  • Proficiency in computer usage, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to understand and work with budgets and financial provisions.
  • Fluency in English (both written and spoken).

Desirable:

  • Experience collaborating with partners and stakeholders to achieve project goals.
  • Proven track record of providing technical support and guidance to project teams and partners.
  • Experience in developing new initiatives and contributing to project growth.
  • Strong financial management skills, including preparing financial forecasts and monitoring expenditure.
  • Experience in managing partnerships and building the capacity of partners.
  • Skilled in managing monitoring and evaluation systems and structures.
  • Ability to interpret and use data/findings to guide decision-making.
  • Experience in safeguarding, including providing support and advice on safeguarding concerns.
  • Knowledge of additional languages relevant to the region.
  • Experience in developing high-quality case studies for reporting and fundraising.
