Job Title: Nephrology Nurse
Location: Lagos
Job Description
- To coordinate, organize, delegate, provide direct nursing care to patients with impaired kidney function and oversee the daily function of the dialysis staff.
Job Responsibilities
- Maintains accountability for the coordination and delivery of care to patients with renal disease.
- Routine patient assessments
- Oversees the preparation of the delivery system, dialysate bath, and dialyzer and confirms that all mandatory alarm tests on the dialyzer and equipment are performed.
- Conducts pre-dialysis patient assessment including obtaining patient vital signs and assessing the patient’s vascular access, laboratory findings, and the patient’s general health.
- Assesses, prepares, and cannulates a patient’s vascular access (including needle insertion in arteriovenous fistula or grafts for aseptic connection with dialysis equipment)
- Review patient’s medical records as appropriate and administer dialysis related intra-venous and / oral medications as prescribed and/ or per protocol.
- Conduct post dialysis assessment and patient discharge by evaluating treatment, documenting medication administration, utilizing the appropriate protocols, assessing condition of vascular access, discharging the patient when vital signs are stable, and documenting and recording patient treatment data
- Oversee the administering of transfusions to patients where necessary
- Recording chart data and other patient information to enable doctors assess the conditions of the patients
- Comply with the use of standard Operating Procedures and policies / adherence to quality standard
- Participate in your departmental quality improvement project

Educational Qualifications
- Registered Nurse/ Registered Midwife and Registered Nephrology Nurse
- Current licensure by the Nursing Council of Nigeria.
- Demonstrated current competence and provision of care and treatment of patients on dialysis.
Technical Competencies:
- Triage
- Basic Life Support skill
- ACLS
- Computer skills – Use of MS Word ,MS Excel
Behavioral Competencies:
- Empathetic
- Diligent, Responsible, Honest and Reliable
- Good interpersonal and communication skills.
