Job Title: Mooring Master
Location: Lagos

Reports to: Operations Manager/Marine Superintendent
Job Summary
- The Mooring Master is responsible for overseeing and coordinating all mooring and unmooring operations to ensure the safe and efficient berthing of vessels.
- This role involves leading a team, maintaining high safety standards, and ensuring compliance with international and local maritime regulations.
Job Responsibilities
Mooring Operations:
- Supervise mooring and unmooring of vessels, ensuring safe and efficient operations.
- Coordinate with the ship’s crew and terminal personnel during vessel berthing and departure.
Safety and Compliance:
- Enforce adherence to all health, safety, and environmental protocols during mooring operations.
- Conduct risk assessments and implement safety measures to prevent accidents.
- Ensure compliance with international maritime laws, local regulations, and company standards.
Team Leadership:
- Lead and train the mooring crew to maintain high operational standards.
- Delegate tasks effectively and monitor performance.
Equipment Management:
- Inspect and maintain mooring equipment to ensure functionality and safety.
- Report any damages or malfunctions and coordinate repairs or replacements.
Coordination and Communication:
- Serve as the primary point of contact between the vessel, terminal, and local authorities.
- Communicate effectively to manage logistics, scheduling, and operational changes.
Documentation:
- Prepare and maintain accurate records of mooring operations, including incidents and maintenance activities.
- Generate reports for management and regulatory bodies as required.
Job Qualifications and Skills
- Bachelor’s Degree in Maritime Studies, Marine Engineering, or a related field (preferred).
- Minimum of 5-8 years of experience in mooring operations, marine logistics, or related areas.
- In-depth knowledge of maritime regulations, including SOLAS, MARPOL, and ISPS Code.
- Strong leadership and communication skills.
- Proficiency in using marine and mooring equipment.
- Ability to work under pressure and in challenging environments.
- Certifications in Marine Operations or STCW (Standards of Training, Certification, and Watchkeeping) are a plus
