Bahar Organization is an independent non-profit and non-governmental organization that provides humanitarian aids to vulnerable people without any discrimination in all its forms. BO is operating to respond to the needs and basic requirements of the humanitarian crisis in Syria in the middle of the affected communities caused by the conflict the basic principles of BO’s activities are to enhance the basic living standards of the affected population by delivering humanitarian aid based on the needs.
General View of the Position:
The MHPSS Supervisor is under the line management of the Programmes Manager. S/he will technically lead and supervise the psychologists and the case managers in all the community centers.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
Technical Support & Supervision
- Ensure the implementation of all Mental Health standard protocols and methodologies set by BO.
- Provide ongoing support and supervision to MHPSS workers and Case Managers.
- Supervise and ensure that mental health activities (in and outside Community centers), with the clients are performed with regular follow-up and according to all BO protocols and standards to provide the most appropriate treatment for clients with psychosocial problems ensuring the mental health team is calm and neutral during sessions regardless of personal feelings and/or beliefs.
- Review and develop the technical material, tools, guidelines, and documents elaborated for the mental health activities to develop appropriate support for patients.
- Responds and/or assists with emergency interventions relating to complex cases in the field.
- Assists in the facilitation of needed hospitalization and/or other required urgent needs.
- Practice and optimize outcomes for MHPSS beneficiaries accessing BO services.
- Address issues related to ethical, and professional considerations and best practices through group and/or individual supervision sessions.
- Promote self-care and staff-care practices and processes.
Training and Capacity Building
- Facilitate training and supervision of MHPSS and protection staff to identify and properly manage existing mental health disorders.
- Train MHPSS staff to deliver evidence-based interventions that alleviate psychological and emotional distress.
- Build the capacity of MHPSS staff in promoting and strengthening community psychosocial support skills.
- Train MHPSS staff on identifying and providing tailored services to vulnerable and/or at-risk groups (children, elderly, GBV survivors, war injured etc.)
Monitoring and Evaluation
- Contribute to the ongoing development and implementation of monitoring and evaluation processes for all MHPSS field activities.
- Ensure that all necessary MHPSS beneficiary forms and files (intake forms, progress reports, individual assessments etc.) are completed and properly stored as per BO protocols.
- Evaluate beneficiaries’ satisfaction and quality of care provided.
- Assess and evaluate the quality of all MHPSS activities and interventions taking place in the field.
- Responsible for compiling reports on current activities to be submitted to the line manager.
- Assist in the analysis of data to detect potential risk factors influencing the mental health status of the surrounding population.
Representation
- Attend inter-agency coordination meetings and represent BO whenever required.
- Contribute to the development of partnerships with local and international stakeholders necessary for proper MHPSS service delivery.
- Participate in BO internal meetings and individual meetings with the programmes manager.
Reporting
- Provide regular reporting on your activities to your line manager upon his/her solicitation.
Academic Qualification/s and Professional Experience:
- Required: Arabic
- Preferred: English (oral and written)
- MS Office proficiency
- Diplomatic with strong communication skills.
- Turkish Nationality
