Job Title: Medical Laboratory Technician
Location: Gujeni, Kaduna
Employment Type: Full-time
Job Summary
- This role requires strong attention to detail, an understanding of scientific techniques, and an ability to work independently within the laboratory setting.
- This individual will be responsible for overseeing laboratory operations, conducting tests, and recording observations and data accurately.
- Regularly maintain, and troubleshoot lab equipment, and keep an inventory of supplies, placing orders when necessary.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee and manage laboratory operations, ensuring all tests are conducted accurately and efficiently.
- Perform routine and specialized tests on samples, such as blood counts, chemistry profiles, and microscopic exams, using laboratory instruments and equipment.
- Review and interpret test data to identify any abnormalities or indicators of disease and provide accurate reports for healthcare providers.
- Conduct regular quality checks on laboratory instruments, calibrate equipment as needed, and ensure compliance with testing protocols to maintain accuracy.
- Adhere to strict health and safety standards to prevent contamination, manage hazardous materials safely and comply with laboratory regulations and procedures.
- Train and supervise junior laboratory staff as necessary.
- Record test results and observations of meticulously, enter data into patient records or laboratory databases and prepare reports for physicians.
Qualifications and Requirements
- B.Sc / HND in Science Laboratory Technology or a related discipline.
- Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in laboratory management.
- Familiarity with laboratory equipment, testing procedures, and safety protocols.
- Knowledge of ethical practices and strict patient confidentiality.
- Membership in relevant professional bodies is an added advantage.
