Job Summary
- We are seeking a skilled and experienced Mechanical Fitter to join our steel fabrication team.
- The ideal candidate will be responsible for assembling, installing, maintaining, and repairing mechanical systems and components in a heavy industrial environment.
- You will play a critical role in ensuring that machinery and equipment operate efficiently and safely.
Key Responsibilities
- Assemble and install mechanical components and systems used in steel fabrication.
- Interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and specifications to carry out fitting tasks.
- Perform regular maintenance and troubleshooting on mechanical systems and machinery.
- Conduct inspections and identify wear, misalignment, or potential issues in equipment.
- Operate tools and machinery such as grinders, welding equipment, and hydraulic presses.
- Dismantle and replace defective parts as necessary.
- Ensure compliance with safety and quality standards at all times.
- Collaborate with engineers, welders, and other team members to meet production goals.
- Maintain accurate maintenance records and report issues to supervisors promptly.
Requirements
- Technical certification or diploma in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
- Proven experience (typically 3+ years) as a Mechanical Fitter in a steel fabrication or heavy industrial setting.
- Strong understanding of hydraulic, pneumatic, and mechanical systems.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and schematics.
- Skilled in using hand and power tools relevant to the trade.
- Physically fit and able to work in demanding environments.
- Commitment to safety and quality workmanship.
Preferred Attributes:
- Experience with welding or fabrication is a plus.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Good communication and teamwork abilities.
