Job Title: Mechanical Fitter

Location: Ikorodu, Lagos

Job Summary

  • We are seeking a skilled and experienced Mechanical Fitter to join our steel fabrication team. 
  • The ideal candidate will be responsible for assembling, installing, maintaining, and repairing mechanical systems and components in a heavy industrial environment. 
  • You will play a critical role in ensuring that machinery and equipment operate efficiently and safely.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assemble and install mechanical components and systems used in steel fabrication.
  • Interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and specifications to carry out fitting tasks.
  • Perform regular maintenance and troubleshooting on mechanical systems and machinery.
  • Conduct inspections and identify wear, misalignment, or potential issues in equipment.
  • Operate tools and machinery such as grinders, welding equipment, and hydraulic presses.
  • Dismantle and replace defective parts as necessary.
  • Ensure compliance with safety and quality standards at all times.
  • Collaborate with engineers, welders, and other team members to meet production goals.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records and report issues to supervisors promptly.

Requirements

  • Technical certification or diploma in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
  • Proven experience (typically 3+ years) as a Mechanical Fitter in a steel fabrication or heavy industrial setting.
  • Strong understanding of hydraulic, pneumatic, and mechanical systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and schematics.
  • Skilled in using hand and power tools relevant to the trade.
  • Physically fit and able to work in demanding environments.
  • Commitment to safety and quality workmanship.

Preferred Attributes:

  • Experience with welding or fabrication is a plus.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Good communication and teamwork abilities.
