Job Description & Summary

Key Responsibilities
- As a Manager in the Governance, Risk & Compliance, you will be required to lead Compliance engagement(s) and will support our clients achieve their compliance strategy by using your technical knowledge.
- You will be leading the team on all compliance engagements and working directly with our clients, successfully providing them with outstanding advice and service delivery.
As a manager of the team, you will be responsible for:
- Both the service delivery and technical aspect of compliance projects.
- Involved in capacity planning, resource planning / selection and recruitment, identifying and managing systems access for team.
- Managing the Governance, Risk & Compliance team through training, productivity of team members, quality of client deliverables, and escalation of issues to the partner and more broadly stakeholder management.
- The management of the team, including direct supervision of work, ensuring productivity and quality targets are met and all internal processes and procedures are adhered to.
- Supervision of Associates, Senior Associates and Assistant Managers and identify training & skill gaps, assisting team members in developing their compliance skill set.
- Develop and maintain productive working relationships with client personnel, whilst building strong internal relationships.
- Assist the Partner in further developing and refining Compliance Service Offerings.
- Monitoring the regulatory environment and staying updated on new compliance rules and changes to existing regulatory regimes both locally in Nigeria and globally.
Qualifications and experience
- Law Degree, with a minimum of 2+ years of experience practicing law.
- Relevant professional qualifications, such as ACAMS, ABA, ICA Diploma in Anti Money Governance, Risk & Compliance or equivalent would be preferred.
- Proficiency in Microsoft applications, particularly Excel and PowerPoint
- At least 6 – 8 years’ experience in Compliance, preferably with experience in a Big 4 or similar consulting environment.
- Good commercial intelligence, an understanding of how large organisations operate.
- Must have experience working in a heavily regulated environment.
- Passionate about making an impact and driving compliance services across multiple industries.
- Experience in complex problem solving and consulting.
- Experience conducting analysis (desktop research, data analysis, reviewing documents etc.) and synthesising into digestible outputs (e.g. reports/presentation slides)
- Experience building, designing, advising on, and reviewing key components of compliance programmes such as:
- Compliance risk assessments
- Compliance program assessment
- Compliance program design and implementation assistance
- Development of compliance policies and procedures
- Compliance program testing
- Regulatory inquiry assistance
- Regulatory examination readiness
- Compliance Rules Books
- Compliance strategy and operating model
- Monitoring and evaluation frameworks
- The ability to follow defined processes while using your own judgment and thinking outside of those boundaries to deliver continuous improvement.
- The ability to make reasoned decisions and communicate those decisions with clarity and confidence to clients and internal stakeholders.
- A proactive approach to problem solving and a track record of delivering results.
- Proven experience in managing multiple client engagements simultaneously.
- Driving research initiatives and supporting the development of capabilities, proposals, and training materials.
- Utilizing data visualization skills and tools to analyze, package, and communicate complex reports to key stakeholders, both internally and externally.
What will your typical day look like?
Client delivery:
- Advise clients on their compliance operating model, embedding leading practice around compliance
- Problem solve and project manage sprint teams to help clients respond to emergent risks and regulation
- Help clients deliver major enterprise change whilst protecting the interests of internal and external stakeholders
- Present insights and recommendations to Senior Management and Executive stakeholders
