Job Title: Maintenance Manager

Location: Wuse 2, Abuja (FCT)
Employment Type: Full-time

Responsibilities
The ideal candidate will (but is not limited to):

  • Develop and implement comprehensive preventative maintenance programs for all resturant and hotel systems, equipment, and facilities to minimize breakdowns and extend asset lifespan.
  • Contribute to the overall operational strategy of the restaurant and hotel, providing expert advice on engineering and maintenance matters.
  • Develop and implement comprehensive maintenance plans, including preventive, corrective, and predictive maintenance schedules, ensuring clear objectives, timelines, and deliverable.
  • Perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance of hotel facilities (e.g., plumbing, electrical systems, HVAC, elevators, lighting).
  • Work with external contractors, service providers, and suppliers to ensure timely and quality execution of maintenance projects and procurement of necessary parts.
  • Establish and manage a framework for monitoring maintenance activities, tracking performance against key indicators such as downtime, repair costs, and equipment lifespan.
  • Ensure prompt and efficient response to all guest and internal department maintenance requests, prioritizing critical issues.
  • Prepare and maintain detailed maintenance documentation, including work orders, repair logs, equipment manuals, inspection reports, and budget details.
  • Assist in tracking maintenance budgets, ensuring expenses stay within scope and reporting any variances as needed.
  • Conduct regular inspections and site visits to monitor the quality of maintenance work, assess the condition of facilities and equipment, and ensure compliance.
  • Ensure strict compliance with all safety regulations, company policies, industry standards, and local building codes for all maintenance operations.
  • Communicate regularly with relevant departments and management, keeping them informed of maintenance status, planned works, and potential disruptions.
  • Conduct regular safety audits and inspections of equipment, facilities, and work practices.
  • Lead, train, and develop the maintenance team, facilitating regular meetings and ensuring skill development and adherence to best practices.
  • Contribute to post-maintenance reviews, documenting lessons learned, and making recommendations for asset lifecycle improvements and operational enhancements.
  • Manage the inventory of spare parts, tools, and supplies, ensuring adequate stock levels while minimizing holding costs.
  • Implement a system for tracking and managing hotel assets, including maintenance schedules and depreciation.
  • Research and recommend new technologies or equipment that could improve efficiency, guest comfort, or cost savings.
  • Assist in procurement processes specific to maintenance, including preparing specifications, reviewing proposals, and coordinating contracts for parts, tools, and services.

Requirement

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, or Civil) or a related technical field is required; a Master’s degree or relevant professional certification (e.g., CEM, CFM) is a significant advantage.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of progressive experience in maintenance management, preferably within the hospitality industry.
  • Proficiency in Computerised Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) and Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) is essential.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, especially for technical explanations.
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage emergency repairs effectively.
  • High level of attention to detail and accuracy in diagnosing issues and performing repairs.
  • Proactive problem-solving abilities and a solution-oriented mindset for complex technical challenges.
  • Ability to work well both independently and as part of a technical team.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate with diverse operational teams and external vendors.
