Job Title: Machine Operator
Location: Ilupeju, Lagos

Work Hours: Mon-Fri (8am – 5pm) Sat (8am – 2pm
Job Details
- The Machine Operator will play a key role in the chocolate production process, ensuring the smooth operation of machinery used in sourcing, processing, and packaging locally grown cocoa beans into high-quality chocolate products.
- The role involves setting up, operating, monitoring, and maintaining production equipment to achieve efficiency, safety, and product quality standards.
- The Machine Operator will also assist in cleaning, minor repairs, and adherence to food safety and hygiene regulations.
Key Responsibilities
Raw Material Handling & Storage:
- Receive and inspect raw cocoa beans upon delivery
- Weigh, record, and store beans in appropriate storage containers/sacks
- Monitor bean conditions (moisture, pests, contamination) regularly.
Roasting:
- Set up and operate the cocoa bean roasting equipment
- Monitor roasting time, temperature, and bean condition for consistency.
Cracking & Winnowing:
- Operate machines that crack roasted beans and separate nibs from husks
- Ensure efficient yield of clean nibs with minimal wastage.
Cocoa Butter Pressing:
- Set up and operate the cocoa butter press machine
- Monitor pressure and temperature during pressing to ensure quality yield.
General Duties:
- Follow standard operating procedures (SOPs) and food safety guidelines
- Assist in cleaning work areas, tools, and machines
- Support the production team in inventory and reporting tasks.
Requirements
- Minimum of an HND technical or vocational training in food processing or machinery
- 1 – 2 years of experience operating machinery in a food production or agricultural processing environment preferred
- Mechanically inclined and comfortable operating factory equipment
- Good record-keeping and basic math skills (for weights, temperatures, etc.).
Working Conditions:
- Factory shifts may include early mornings or weekends, depending on the production schedule
- Training on machines and safety procedures will be provided
- Candidates must reside within Ilupeju and its environs.
