Job Title: Livestock Manager
Location: Ogun
Summary
- We are seeking an experienced Livestock Manager to oversee our animal production unit.
- The ideal candidate must have strong, practical experience managing piggery operations.
- You will lead animal care programs, supervise staff and ensure productivity and animal health are optimized.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee daily operations of the piggery unit, including breeding, farrowing, feeding and health management.
- Develop and implement health, feeding and breeding programs for multi-species livestock.
- Lead and train farm staff on animal handling, biosecurity and record-keeping procedures.
- Monitor animal health and collaborate with veterinary professionals for treatments and vaccinations where necessary.
- Maintain accurate records of production, feed, medication and breeding schedules.
- Ensure best practices in hygiene and environmental sustainability.
- Participate in planning and budgeting for livestock units.
- Report regularly on livestock performance, challenges and recommendations for improvement.
Requirements
- Minimum of HND / BSc Degree in Animal Science, Animal Production, or a related field.
- At least 5 years of hands-on experience in animal husbandry, with proven expertise in piggery management.
- Working knowledge of managing other livestock such as goats, sheep, rabbits, or poultry is an advantage.
- Good understanding of animal nutrition, reproduction, disease prevention and farm systems.
- Strong leadership and communication skills to manage a team.
- Comfortable with rural or on-site work and flexible farm hours.
