Job Title: Legal Officer

Job Summary

  • The Legal Officer and Data Protection Officer will be responsible for managing and overseeing the company’s legal affairs, ensuring compliance with all relevant laws and regulations, and safeguarding the integrity and security of our data.
  • The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in corporate law, data protection regulations, and will have a keen eye for detail, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to work independently as well as collaboratively.

What you will be doing

  • Provide legal advice and support on a wide range of corporate matters.
  • Draft, review, and negotiate contracts, agreements, and other legal documents.
  • Ensure compliance with laws, regulations, and industry standards.
  • Assist in the preparation and management of board meetings, including the preparation of agendas, minutes, and resolutions.
  • Maintain and update corporate records and documentation.
  • Implement and manage document control systems to ensure the accurate and timely handling of all company documents.
  • Ensure proper documentation practices are followed, including version control and document security.
  • Develop and implement governance frameworks and risk management strategies.
  • Conduct regular risk assessments and recommend mitigation measures.
  • Ensure compliance with corporate governance standards and practices.
  • Manage the lifecycle of contracts and licenses, including renewals and terminations.
  • Ensure that all contractual and licensing obligations are met in a timely manner.
  • Oversee the administration and management of the company’s insurance policies.
  • Liaise with insurance providers to ensure adequate coverage and manage claims as necessary.
  • Serve as the Data Protection Officer (DPO) and ensure compliance with data protection laws and regulations, including GDPR.
  • Develop and implement data protection policies and procedures.
  • Conduct data protection impact assessments and audits.
  • Handle data subject access requests and breaches.

Must have skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in Law or a related field.
  • Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in a similar role.
  • In-depth knowledge of corporate law, governance, risk management, and data protection regulations (including GDPR).
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Proficiency in legal research and document management systems.
