We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Laboratory Assistant (Chemist)

Location: Gujeni, Kaduna
Employment Type: Full-time

Responsibilities
Chemical Testing & Analysis:

  • Perform routine and advanced analyses such as titration, pH analysis, moisture content determination, viscosity measurement, and capacitance measurement.
  • Conduct wax analysis, immersion density measurement, and lab batch preparation for testing and development purposes.
  • Prepare reagent solutions of specific strengths, ensuring accuracy in formulation.

Lab Maintenance & Safety:

  • Ensure the laboratory environment complies with safety and regulatory standards for handling hazardous materials.
  • Maintain, calibrate, and validate laboratory instruments and equipment to ensure reliability and accuracy.
  • Follow strict protocols for waste disposal and chemical handling to maintain a safe working environment.

Documentation & Reporting:

  • Document all experiments, results, and observations accurately in lab notebooks and reports.
  • Prepare and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs) for laboratory activities.
  • Support quality control and R&D teams with detailed analytical reports.

Collaboration & Training:

  • Work closely with production, quality assurance, and R&D teams to support manufacturing and process improvements.
  • Train junior staff or team members in analytical techniques and safety protocols as needed.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, or a related discipline.
  • Proficiency in analytical techniques such as titration, pH analysis, viscosity and moisture measurements, and capacitance analysis.
  • Minimum of 3 – 5 years of experience in a laboratory environment, preferably in an explosive plant or chemical manufacturing industry.
  • Awareness of ISO or equivalent quality management systems is advantageous.
  • Attention to detail and commitment to producing accurate, reliable results.
