Job Summary
- The Investment Operations Manager is responsible for overseeing the operational aspects of the investment process, ensuring efficiency, accuracy, and compliance with regulatory requirements.
- This role involves managing trade execution, portfolio reconciliation, reporting, and working closely with internal and external stakeholders to optimize investment operations.
Key Responsibilities
Strategy and Operations:
- Collaborate with the executive team to define the company’s long-term vision and strategic objectives
- Develop and implement operational strategies to drive efficiency, scalability, and excellence
- Oversee the smooth execution of business activities across various departments.
Regulatory Compliance and Risk Management:
- Ensure compliance with Nigerian regulatory requirements (such as Security and Exchange Commission (SEC) and Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) guidelines) and international best practices
- Oversee risk management policies to identify, assess, and mitigate operational and financial risks
- Develop and implement contingency plans and business continuity strategies.
Financial Oversight and Budget Management:
- Prepare, manage, and monitor operational budgets
- Analyze operational data to drive cost efficiencies and improve financial performance
Stakeholder and Client Relationship Management:
- Ensure exceptional service delivery and maintain high levels of investor satisfaction
- Develop strategies to enhance client engagement and retention
- Represent the company in interactions with key stakeholders.
Business Development and Market Adaptation:
- Monitor local and global market trends, competitive dynamics, and regulatory changes
- Develop operational models to address unique challenges in the Nigerian market.
Investment Strategy Development:
- Formulate and implement the firm’s overall investment strategy, aligning it with company goals and client needs
- Conduct thorough market analysis to identify investment opportunities and risks.
Portfolio Management:
- Oversee the management of investment portfolios, ensuring optimal asset allocation and risk management
- Monitor portfolio performance and adjust strategies as necessary.
Risk Management:
- Develop and implement robust risk management frameworks to identify, measure, and mitigate investment risks
- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and internal policies.
Research and Analysis:
- Stay abreast of market trends, economic indicators, and industry developments to inform investment decisions
- Oversee research initiatives to enhance the firm’s investment capabilities.
Performance Monitoring and Reporting:
- Establish performance benchmarks and metrics to evaluate investment performance
- Prepare regular reports to the board of directors and management team on investment activities and outcomes
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Economics or a related field
- Possession of a higher degree (MBA or MSc) and professional certification (ACS, ACA, CFA, etc.) is required
- SEC-sponsored individual is preferred
- Over 12 years of proven experience, including a minimum of 7 years in a leadership role within an asset management company
- Proven ability to interpret regulatory announcements and evaluate their potential effects on investment portfolios
- Demonstrable understanding of mutual fund administration and regulatory reporting
- Advanced proficiency in financial software, ERP systems, and Microsoft Office 365 Suites
- Exceptional communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills.
