Job Summary

  • The Investment Associate, Transport role focuses on identifying, executing, and supporting investments in the transport infrastructure sector.
  • This includes relationship-building, origination, and execution efforts across various transportation modes (rail, roads, aviation, airports, ports) and logistics (economic zones, logistics parks, distribution facilities) infrastructure in Africa.
  • The candidate will evaluate new opportunities, work with portfolio companies, and play pivotal, leadership roles in all aspects of transactions such as due diligence, investment committee presentations, and negotiations.
  • The ideal candidate will also support portfolio management activities across asset classes (project development, equity, and equity-linked instruments).

Key Responsibilities

  • Support origination and management of new clients and opportunities within the transportation and logistics asset finance sector, across Africa.
  • Pitch, structure, negotiate, market, execute and close transactions in project development, equity and other equity-linked instruments sectors.
  • Support institutional building by working closely with various teams within AFC to execute the co-investment strategy.
  • Participate and/or lead negotiations with sponsors, lenders, and public authorities.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with local/regional/global/infrastructure companies, banking and multilateral partners, and government officials.

Requirements
Education:

  • Relevant advanced degree from a leading university in Business Administration (MBA), Finance, Infrastructure Investments, or other analytical-related fields such as engineering, etc.
  • Relevant professional qualifications/certifications related to finance such as CFA will be advantageous.

Experience:

  • 4 to 8 years of professional experience in infrastructure investments and private equity.
  • Proficient in transaction modeling and understanding of transaction structures.
  • Excellent client origination and management skills.
  • Previous experience in the transport sector will be an added advantage.
  • Solid understanding of Concession agreements, PPA, EPC, O&M contracts.
  • Demonstrated track record of closing transactions.
