Job Title: Igbo Teacher

Job Description

  • We are seeking a passionate and knowledgeable Igbo Language Teacher to join our educational team. ]The ideal candidate will be responsible for teaching students how to read, write, and speak Igbo fluently while also introducing them to the rich culture, traditions, and history of the Igbo people.
  • The teacher will create engaging lesson plans, assess student progress, and foster a positive learning environment. Strong communication skills, cultural awareness, and a commitment to language preservation are essential for this role.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and deliver structured Igbo language lessons tailored to students’ proficiency levels.
  • Teach students Igbo grammar, vocabulary, pronunciation, and writing skills.
  • Introduce students to Igbo culture, history, proverbs, and traditional practices.
  • Use interactive teaching methods such as storytelling, music, and role-playing to enhance learning.
  • Assess student progress through assignments, tests, and oral presentations.
  • Encourage students to practice speaking Igbo confidently in daily conversations.
  • Create a positive and inclusive classroom environment that fosters interest in language learning.
  • Collaborate with school staff and parents to support student learning and development.
  • Stay updated on best practices in language teaching and incorporate new strategies into lessons.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Linguistics, Igbo Studies, or a related field.
  • Proficiency in speaking, reading, and writing Igbo fluently.
  • Minimum of 2 years Igbo teaching experience
  • Strong communication, classroom management, and organizational skills.
  • Passion for language preservation and cultural education.
